Local 25 Year Old Lydia Stafford Building an Impressive Wine Industry Resume. ~By John Hamilton

Posted by: John_Hamilton on 09/04/2012 02:55 PM
Murphys, CA....We had the pleasure of interviewing Lydia Stafford this morning. She just returned home from working at Whitehaven Vineyards down under in New Zealand. Since it has been winter there she may have bee just coming home to get some warm weather as well. Prior to that she worked in Sonoma for B. R. Cohn Winery and she started her resume building at Renner Winery here locally. She has consistantly been moving up the winery size scale from under 2,000 cases a year at Renner, 100k Plus at B.R. Cohn to 350k plus at Whitehaven. Not bad for a young lady that stated her carreer path at the Calaveras County Visitors Bureau. The 2005 Bret Harte graduate has been on the production and marketing sides of the industry and would like to focus on the marketing side and just narrowly missed out possibly because of age on one of the premier marketing spots in the industry....

It Was 20 Years Ago Today... ~By Scott Klann

Posted by: John_Hamilton on 08/22/2012 12:51 PM
Murphys, CA...I’ve been eyeing this date on the calendar for the better part of the summer. It has finally arrived and I find myself in awe of life’s poignant cycles. In June of 1992 I left my beloved friends and second home in Long Beach, CA. These were/are people that I love dearly. They had helped me to see the world in new ways and to see that I was perfectly worthy of all that it had to offer. There was no plan, no grand scheme, other than a much needed inward look at what my life was going to be about. The only place to do that was under my father’s roof...the safest haven I had ever known....

Ironstone Threw a Country Party Last Night with Reba McEntire and Whiskey Dawn

Posted by: John_Hamilton on 07/22/2012 07:23 PM
Murphys, CA...The Ironstone Amptheater worked it's magic last night as a close to capacity crowd made their way out to Ironstone Vineyards. They came to see one of the biggest female acts of all time in Reba McEntire and fast rising California country band Whiskey Dawn that said this may be their last California show for a stretch as they are leaving to make their way to Nashville to take another step or two on their path to Country Music stardom. If the crowd reactions were any indications then their success is already a foregone conclusion. Reba put on a great show playing from a huge library of chart topping new hits and some classic songs of country music's past. She is the consummate professional as she started off by mentioning Murphys and how she would have liked to have gone to Murphys Homecoming earlier in the day. This typified what the awaiting crowd would witness, Reba is a professional at the top of her game. Warm, engaging, prepared and dedicated to giving her guests what they came to hear...

A Twisted Evening with Uncle Bonsai July 20th at 7pm!

Posted by: John_Hamilton on 07/20/2012 10:42 AM
Vallecito, CA...Uncle Bonsai performs original, contemporary folk/pop music. With their soaring and intricate 3-part vocal harmonies and biting humor, accompanied by only an acoustic guitar, Arni Adler, Patrice O'Neill, and Andrew Ratshin deliver poignantly unflinching portrayals of life, love, and a guy named Doug. The trio's influences range from the Beatles to Stephen Sondheim. Some say Zappa cross-bred with Peter, Paul and Mary. Loudon Wainwright III, the Roches. Three tightly tiered and adhered voices, acoustic guitar. That's it. Nearly naked folk-pop for everyone....
