Chapel in the Pines Invites Children to Everest VBS: Conquering Challenges With God’s Mighty Power! |

Arnold, CA - A summer kids’ event called Everest VBS will be hosted at Chapel in the Pines from June 15 to June 19. At Everest, kids discover what it means to hold on to God’s mighty power in everyday life. Kids participate in memorable Bible-learning activities, sing catchy songs, play teamwork-building games, make and dig into yummy treats, experience one-of-a-kind Bible adventures, collect Bible Memory Buddies to remind them of God’s love, and test out Sciency-Fun Gizmos they’ll take home and play with all summer long. Plus, kids will learn to look for evidence of God all around them through something called God Sightings. Each day concludes with a Summit Celebration that gets everyone involved in living what they’ve learned. Family members and friends are encouraged to join in daily for this special time at noon.

Help The Detrick's Celebrate Their Retirement! |

Arnold, CA...John & Laurie Detrick of Arnold, California are retiring after faithfully serving in our community for 28 years. During these years, John has been the Pastor at Big Trees Community Bible Church In White Pines. For most of those years John Detrick has played music and sung every month at Morning Sing, with the children of Hazel Fischer School up through the present time. John Detrick is also an active participant in the Calaveras Communty Band. For many years John played along with the students in the Bret Harte band at their musical drama performances. Both he and Laurie were "Band Parents" while their children were in band at Bret Harte. Laurie made oodles of cookies for them! Laurie Detrick has been an Aide at Hazel Fischer School for the past 18 years.

New Study Class Starting May 28th At Murphys Covenant Church |

Murphys, CA...Beginning May 28, a new six-week group will meet to discuss the hope people have as Christians. Topics will include heaven, the resurrection, the second coming of Jesus, and last things as revealed in scripture and written about by N.T. Wright in his book "Surprised by Hope: Rethinking Heaven, the Resurrection, and the Mission of the Church." The group will meet on Thursday evenings 6-8pm, including a potluck dinner and childcare. Washington, DC...The Christian share of the U.S. population is declining, while the number of U.S. adults who do not identify with any organized religion is growing, according to an extensive new survey by the Pew Research Center. Moreover, these changes are taking place across the religious landscape, affecting all regions of the country and many demographic groups. While the drop in Christian affiliation is particularly pronounced among young adults, it is occurring among Americans of all ages. Enjoy a taco and enchilada dinner, live music and good fellowship. The buffet will be open from 6 -8 p.m. with sangria and beer available. $10 for adults, $5 for children. Church parking can be accessed uphill on Raspberry, then left on Church Street.

Angels Camp, CA...Refuge Church on Murphys Grade Road just above Bret Harte High School will be moving to new service times and offering two full services starting this Sunday. Morning service is and 10am and the evening service will be at 6pm.
