Posted by: Andy_Johnson on 04/16/2014 03:08 PM
Calaveras County, CA ... The Calaveras Humane Society is promoting has several canine guests at the shelter that would love to have new homes.

Hercules, a 2-3 year old, white and tan male Bulldog/Pit could be just what you need. He was mellow on all physical testing, will chase a ball but really prefers to be with his person, especially if you give good tummy rubs! He pulls like a tank on the leash so could use some training. He is looking for a home where he could be an only child and someplace with no cats or livestock. Beware of big slobbery kisses. Hercules weighs 63 pounds, is Heartworm negative, up on all shots but rabies and will need to be neutered before he can take up permanent occupancy of your heart and home.
Please use Hercules’ intake # A036973 when making inquiries at the shelter.

In Calaveras County that is almost one billion bags! Approximately 14 million trees are cut down every year for U.S. paper bag production. A plastic shopping bag can take anywhere from 15 to 1,000 years to decompose. Paper bags produce more than double the air pollution as plastic bags in landfills. Plastic bags are a true menace to our ecosystems. Barely recyclable, almost all of the 400 plastic bags used per second in the state are discarded. Once discarded, they either enter our landfills or our marine ecosystem. Located at both of our markets, Re-Planet Recycle Centers offer full CRV (California Redemption Value) for your glass, cans and plastic.
