Frog Jump Loses Legend!

Angels Camp, CA...The Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee would like to honor the memory of Warren "Buck" King who passed away yesterday. Buck was involved in many aspects of the Fair, including serving as the the Fair Manager from 1997 to 2003. King was also on the Board of directors. A post from which he resigned to become the Fair Manager. However his area of expertise was the Frog Jump. He officiated the Frog Jump for more than 50 years. First as a member of the Angels Boosters Club and then as a founding member of the Frog Jump Committee. "I learned everything I know about frogs from Buck, how to tell the male from the female, how to care for them and how to respect them", says Laurie Giannini, CEO/Fair manger. "Buck understood the significance of the Frog Jump and how to leverage it" continues Giannini...

Cold, Sad & Friendly Dog Wandered Into Angels Six Theatres Last Night. (Owner & Thumper Reunited)

Angels Camp, CA...This sad cold friendly dog wandered into the theatre last night shivering after falling in the creek. No tags. Male, 10 yr old, missing left eye. Angels Camp, CA...John J, Ferreira of Angels Camp died December 24, 2014 at his residence in Angels Camp. He was 86. John was born December 9, 1928 in Santa Clara, CA. He was an Employee of Southern Pacific Railroad for 42 years in the Maintenance of Way Department. He was a member of the Angels Gun Club for 21 years....

Urgent Quincy The Cat Is Lost...Please Help Reunite With Owners!

Hathaway Pines, CA...This cat was lost around 5 pm 1/3/15 at the heliport off Hwy 4, near Red Apple Ranch, Hathaway Pines. He taken out of a car due to an emergency in the car and while being held, panicked and bolted into the woods. The owners looked for over an hour. They live out of town so I am the local contact. He is very large – 18 lb. and tall and friendly. PLEASE, if you find him, contain him in a box, a room, a car - ANYTHING !!!! and call me immediately. I will come get him. He has a microchip also....

Angels Camp, CA...Stop by the Calaveras Humane Society's Thrift Store Cat Adoption Center in Angels Camp, located in Angels Town Center at 240 S. Main St./Hwy 49. Chip will be there, as well as other kitties who would love to meet you! Chip qualifies for our "BLACK TIE New Year's Special" reduced adoption fee. We will also have kitties available to meet you at our Arnold Adoption Center, located in Meadowmont Center next to Big Trees Market. Both adoption centers will be CLOSED ON NEW YEAR'S DAY, but will be open Friday & Saturday. We hope to see you!

Mexican Nationals Arrested On Weapons & Drug Charges

Angels Camp, CA...On 12-26-14, at approximately 12:15 AM, an officer from the Angels Camp Police Department made a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle for inoperative brake lights. The driver of the vehicle identified himself with a Mexico identification, and around this time the officer observed a firearm in plain sight inside the vehicle. The four occupants of the vehicle were detained and the vehicle was searched, and total of three (3) loaded firearms were located inside the vehicle. A subsequent search of the occupants revealed that one of them was in possession of methamphetamine. During the booking process another occupant of the vehicle was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine....
