Why Lifeguards in California Are Making More Than the Governor

Los Angeles, CA...In the summer of 1984, I desperately wanted to swim in the deep end of the water with my friends at the local swimming pool. I couldn’t swim very well—I was only five—but that didn’t stop me. I dove off the diving board into 12 feet of water, and promptly started to flail and flounder. I probably would have sunk right to the bottom if a lifeguard hadn’t jumped in and saved me.
Rehoboth Beach, Delaware...Hello, folks. Good morning. Today, we received great news for our economy and our recovery and for the American people. This morning, we learned that, in May, our economy created 559,000 new jobs, unemployment rate fell to 5.8 percent, and wages went up for American workers. That means we have now created over 2 million jobs in total since I took office — more jobs than have ever been created in the first four months of any presidency in modern history, triple the rate of my predecessor, eight times the rate of President Reagan.

FPC Wins “Assault Weapon” Lawsuit in Historic Victory for Second Amendment Rights

San Diego, CA....Today, Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) announced that Judge Roger T. Benitez of the Southern District of California has issued an opinion in Miller v. Bonta (previously Miller v. Becerra), holding that California’s tyrannical ban on so-called “assault weapons” is unconstitutional under the Second Amendment. The opinion, along with other filings in this case, can be viewed at AssaultWeaponLawsuit.com.
Sacramento, CA...California Governor Gavin Newsom released the following statement on today’s court decision regarding assault weapons: “Today’s decision is a direct threat to public safety and the lives of innocent Californians, period. As the son of a judge, I grew up with deep respect for the judicial process and the importance of a judge’s ability to make impartial fact-based rulings, but the fact that this judge compared the AR-15 – a weapon of war that’s used on the battlefield – to a Swiss Army Knife completely undermines the credibility of this decision and is a slap in the face to the families who’ve lost loved ones to this weapon. We’re not backing down from this fight, and we’ll continue pushing for common sense gun laws that will save lives.”

Washington, DC...When the Democrats passed Mr. Biden’s $1.9 trillion spending spree in March, a lot of people got a lot of free money – thousands of dollars in many cases. But the bill is already coming due for that free money, and, as many of us warned, it turns out that free money is very expensive. Indeed, it turns out that the very same families most harmed by the lockdowns will be the most harmed by paying the bill for the lockdown relief. It comes to about $15,000 for an average family and the first installment is already reflected in the rising inflation sapping the purchasing power of working families.

Washington, D.C...As the United States continues our efforts to get every eligible American vaccinated and fight COVID-19 here at home, we also recognize that ending this pandemic means ending it everywhere. As long as this pandemic is raging anywhere in the world, the American people will still be vulnerable. And the United States is committed to bringing the same urgency to international vaccination efforts that we have demonstrated at home.
