President Biden on the Bipartisan Infrastructure Framework

Posted by: thepinetree on 06/29/2021 11:22 PM
La Crosse, Wisconsin...Good afternoon. Thank you, Laurie. Please, please, please sit down. I once said that to a big crowd; it was in the evening. I said, “Please, sit down.” And there were no seats. They were out in a football field. (Laughter.) And the press pointed out, “Biden is losing it.” (Laughter.) Well, I can see you all have seats. (Laughter.)

President Joe Biden on the Bipartisan Infrastructure Framework

Posted by: thepinetree on 06/28/2021 12:29 AM
Washington, DC...On Thursday, I reached a historic agreement with a bipartisan group of Senators on a $1.2 trillion plan to transform our physical infrastructure. The plan would make the largest investment in infrastructure in history, the biggest investment in rail since the creation of Amtrak, and the largest investment in transit ever. It would fix roads and bridges, make critical investments in our clean energy future, and help this country compete with China and other economic rivals. It would replace lead water pipes in our schools and houses, and connect every American to high-speed internet. It would create millions of high-paying jobs that could not be outsourced.

President Joe Biden on Call with FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell

Posted by: thepinetree on 06/28/2021 12:36 AM
Washington, DC...I spoke this afternoon with FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell to hear firsthand about her visit today to Surfside, FL and the scene of the partial collapse of the Champlain Towers residential building. What I heard from Administrator Criswell was excruciating: she reiterated that words can’t describe the scene on the ground and she gave me an update on meetings she had with state and local officials to ensure they have everything they need.

Attorney General Bonta to Add Five States to Travel Restrictions List as a Result of Wave of New Anti-LGBTQ+ Legislation

Posted by: News_Desk on 06/28/2021 05:26 PM
San Francisco, CA... California Attorney General Rob Bonta today announced that California will restrict state-funded travel to Arkansas, Florida, Montana, North Dakota, and West Virginia as a result of new anti-LGBTQ+ legislation recently enacted in each state. The states are a part of a recent, dangerous wave of discriminatory new bills signed into law in states across the country that directly work to ban transgender youth from playing sports, block access to life-saving care, or otherwise limit the rights of members of the LGBTQ+ community. Many states pushing these new discriminatory laws are already on California’s travel restrictions list. The new restrictions on state-funded travel to the states announced today are prescribed by law in California pursuant to Assembly Bill 1887 (AB 1887), which was enacted in 2016.

Brutus in Your Calaveras County Animal Services Pet of the Week

Posted by: thepinetree on 06/27/2021 10:35 PM
San Andreas, CA...Meet Brutus, a Pit bull mix estimated to be about six years old. Truly a gentle giant, Brutus is extraordinarily affectionate and very much wants to please. He walks nicely on a leash and eagerly sits for treats. He has always been a happy boy in spite of a bad ear infection when he first arrived at the shelter and now being treated. Brutus tested well with other dogs, too, both male and female, although a meet ‘n’ greet will be required should you have one at home. We also believe he is housebroken since he keeps his kennel clean. Quite simply, Brutus is a fun and friendly dog who will add joy to your life.
