San Andreas Woman is Sixteenth Case of COVID-19 Confirmed in Calaveras County

San Andreas, CA...On Wednesday June 3, 2020, Calaveras Public Health confirmed an additional case of COVID-19 in Calaveras County. This case is an adult female from San Andreas.  Calaveras Public Health staff is investigating this new case to determine any possible persons who may have had close personal contact with the positive individual. Close contacts will be assessed and monitored for signs and symptoms of COVID-19 illness. Community transmission of disease remains a serious concern.

Amador County to Open COVID-19 Testing Site

Amador County, CA...Amador County Public Health in collaboration with the Emergency Operations Center is opening one drive-through community-based testing site at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Parish later this week to expand COVID-19 testing for our community. Amador’s drive-through testing site will be open to pre-scheduled appointments starting June 4, 2020.

$5,000 in Scholarships Awarded to Calaveras & Bret Harte Graduates

San Andreas, CA...Mark Twain Hospital Foundation Volunteers announced their 2020 high school scholarship recipients this month. A total of five, $1000.00 scholarships were awarded to Calaveras and Bret Harte High Schools graduating seniors. More than 50 applications were received and the selection process takes into account grade point average, community service and the student's interest in pursuing a health care related career.

Angels Camp CA..(Frogtown, USA)..OptumServe, a health services partner with the State of California, is now accepting walk-ins at the local COVID-19 testing site located at the Calaveras Fairgrounds outside of Angels Camp. This is in large part to expanded efforts to bring COVID-19 testing to the county.

Governor Newsom Signs Another COVID-19 Actions Executive Order

Sacramento, CA...Governor Gavin Newsom  issued an executive order extending authorization for local governments to halt evictions for renters impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, through July 28.  The order also addresses a variety of issues in response to the pandemic, by extending the waiver permitting the Department of Motor Vehicles to allow for mail-in renewals of driver’s licenses and identification cards, and waiving certain programmatic and administrative requirements that restrict child care and afterschool programs from serving children of essential infrastructure workers.
