Posted by: thepinetree on 02/15/2018 09:59 AM
Washington, DC...From the US Census Bureau... Colorado Is Home to 1 in 8, but Vermont Sends More Per Capita! As we celebrate the 2018 Olympic Winter Games, we take a bird’s-eye view of population statistics of the 31 states U.S. athletes call home. This year, Colorado contributed the largest number (31 out of 244) of winter Olympians, making up 13 percent of the U.S. team. Not surprisingly, Colorado is the number one state for skiing establishments (40). However, California has the most sports centers, places that can include ice skating rinks, at 3,788.

Gas Prices Drop for First Time in 2018

Posted by: thepinetree on 02/14/2018 09:56 AM
Walnut Creek, CA...Gas prices in California dropped for the first time in 2018, but it's unclear whether this one-week decline is a signal that cheaper gas is on the horizon for the Golden State. California's average price for a gallon of unleaded gasoline was $3.34 on Tuesday, just one cent lower on the week. But that small decrease put an end to 45 straight days of rising gasoline prices; California started the year with an average price of $3.10 per gallon and peaked at $3.35 last week.

Posted by: thepinetree on 02/08/2018 07:55 AM
Washington, DC...The 1973 US population was 211.9 million and we are at 323.1 million this year. So in real terms as a percentage of US population the jobless claims are probably some of the lowest in history. In the week ending February 3, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 221,000, a decrease of 9,000 from the previous week's unrevised level of 230,000. The 4-week moving average was 224,500, a decrease of 10,000 from the previous week's unrevised average of 234,500. This is the lowest level for this average since March 10, 1973 when it was 222,000.

Dow Falls Over A Thousand Points Today

Posted by: thepinetree on 02/08/2018 01:11 PM
New York, NY...The Market's wild ride continued to day as stocks gave back over 4% today. Many are feeling that all of this may be a good thing as the Fed moves back to normal business and away from the years of Quantitative easing. So while it is causing jitters a move back to a market driven market instead of a Fed driven market has some saying it is a good thing.
