FCC Commissioner Rosenworcel Says Net Neutrality to End June 11th

Washington, DC....“Today, the FCC gave notice that net neutrality protections will be taken off the books on June 11. This is profoundly disappointing. The agency failed to listen to the American public and gave short shrift to their deeply held belief that internet openness should remain the law of the land.  The agency turned a blind eye to serious problems in its process—from Russian intervention to fake comments to stolen identities in its files.

FCC Issues $120 Million Fine for Spoofed Robocalls

Washington, DC...The Federal Communications Commission today fined Adrian Abramovich $120 million for malicious spoofing that was part of his massive robocalling operation aimed at selling timeshares and other travel packages. The caller ID spoofing operation made almost 100 million spoofed robocalls over three months. The Truth in Caller ID Act prohibits callers from deliberately falsifying caller ID information with the intent to harm or defraud consumers or unlawfully obtain something of value.

Golfer Nick Kristoff Signs Collegiate Letter of Intent at Bret Harte

Altaville, CA...Nick Kristoff signed his official letter of intent to pursue his athletic and academic interests next year at the collegiate level at a celebratory ceremony held at Bret Harte Union High School on Wednesday, May 9, 2018. Senior Nick Kristoff signed with Vanguard University in Costa Mesa, where he will be playing golf. Kristoff, in his fourth year on the varsity boys golf team, greatly contributed to the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division V championship teams in 2016 and 2017, as well as three Mother Lode League championship titles in 2016, 2017 and now 2018. On May 3, 2018, Kristoff led his teammates to their first place finish at the Mother Lode League end of season tournament clinching their perfect season with a match record of 12-0.

Because of the swift action at the Mark Twain Cancer Center in San Andreas, she has recovered and is now back to one of her favorite past times – being an active volunteer at Mark Twain Medical Center. “I’ve helped out as a volunteer for many years because the hospital is so important to our community,” she explains. “Now it has even more meaning because the people here saved my life.”

Energy Commission Adopts Standards Requiring Solar Systems for New Homes, First in Nation

Sacramento, CA...Moving to cut energy use in new homes by more than 50 percent, the California Energy Commission today adopted building standards that require solar photovoltaic systems starting in 2020. The building energy efficiency standards, which are the first in the nation to require solar, will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by an amount equivalent to taking 115,000 fossil fuel cars off the road.

MODIFICATION TO EXISTING PLANNED DEVELOPMENT PERMIT 2001-044 FOR THE ARNOLD BLACK BEAR INN This application proposes to amend condition II-8 of Planning Commission Resolution No. 01-68 approved on September 6, 2001. The resolution sets forth conditions for Planned Development Permit 2001-044 allowing the operation of a 5,105 sq. ft. 5-bedroom bed and breakfast, DBA “Arnold Black Bear Inn”, located at 1343 Oak Circle in Arnold. Currently, condition II-8 prohibits noise producing activities such as festivals, amplified music, receptions and group gatherings from occurring at the Inn. The proposed modification is to amend condition II-8 allowing events at the Inn upon approval of an Administrative Use Permit for Special Events.
