Calaveras County Releases Draft Environmental Impact Report for General Plan Update

San Andreas, CA...The Calaveras County Planning Department has released the Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR) for the general plan update. The DEIR has been over a year in the making and addresses potential environmental impacts of development under the draft general plan recommended for approval by the Planning Commission in 2016 and mitigation measures that could reduce those impacts. The plan will guide growth in the County over the next several decades.

Mount Pleasant, WI...The groundbreaking on Foxconn’s $10-billion factory to produce state-of-the-art flat-panel displays in Mount Pleasant represents a milestone for America. With a 20-million-square-foot campus situated on 3,000 acres, the new Foxconn plant will be among the largest factories ever built in the United States. It will take two years and 10,000 construction workers to build, and employ 13,000 workers when in full production of a variety of LCD screens. It is one of the largest foreign direct investments ever made in the United States.

Washington, DC...From the Opinion of the Court.."Under Illinois law, public employees are forced to subsidize a union, even if they choose not to join and strongly object to the positions the union takes in collective bargaining and related activities. We conclude that this arrangement violates the free speech rights of nonmembers by compelling them to subsidize private speech on matters of substantial public concern.

Arnold, CA...We are pleased to announce that Bistro Espresso is moving up town into, Cedar Center in the Heart of Arnold! This move has been contemplated and dreamed about for years and is finally happening! We will be relocating over the next 30 days and will do our best to stay open for our loyal customers - with as few days of limited services and product as possible - while we move equipment, hire additional staff and add to our menu. Our target Grand Opening date is planned for July 7th, our Lucky 13th Anniversary!!

Los Angeles, CA...Seven and a half years after taking office and inheriting a $27 billion budget deficit, California Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today signed his final state budget, which fills the Rainy Day Fund to the brim and sends record funding to California’s classrooms. “When I took office back in 2011 with the state facing a $27 billion deficit, I pledged to work with the Legislature to fix California’s financial mess,” said Governor Brown. “Today, the final budget I sign delivers on that pledge and prepares us for the future.”

Mokelumne Hill, CA...Thirty-seven miles of the North Fork and main stem of the Mokelumne River running through Amador and Calaveras counties became California’s 12th California Wild and Scenic River on June 27, 2018, when Governor Edmund G. Brown signed SB 854. The legislation was passed by the State Assembly and Senate on Thursday, June 14.
