Geneva, Switzerland, 17 October 2018 – The changing nature of economic competitiveness in a world that is becoming increasingly transformed by new, digital technologies is creating a new set of challenges for governments and businesses, which collectively run the risk of having a negative impact on future growth and productivity. This is the key finding of the World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Report, which is published today. According to the report, which in 2018 uses a brand new methodology to fully capture the dynamics of the global economy in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, many of the factors that will have the greatest impact in driving competitiveness in the future have never been the focus of major policy decisions in the past. These include idea generation, entrepreneurial culture, openness, and agility.

Seattle, CA...October 15, 2018 – The following statements were released today by Vulcan Inc. on behalf of the Allen Family, Vulcan Inc. and the Paul G. Allen network. It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of our founder Paul G. Allen, co-founder of Microsoft and noted technologist, philanthropist, community builder, conservationist, musician and supporter of the arts. Mr. Allen died on Monday afternoon, October 15, 2018, from complications of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in Seattle. Mr. Allen was 65 years old.

CCWD Board Names Jeffrey Meyer Interim General Manager |

San Andreas, CA...At the October 10 Board meeting, the Calaveras County Water District Board of Directors named Jeffrey Meyer as interim general manager, effective Monday October 15. Meyer is currently the Director of Administrative Services for CCWD and has been with the District for the past 10 years. The general manager position is being vacated by Dave Eggerton, who accepted a position as the Executive Director Designate of the Association of California Water Agencies.
