Calaveras County Reaches Settlement Agreement of $25,400,000 with PG&E for 2015 Butte Fire Damages

San Andreas, CA...Today, the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors agreed to settle the County’s claims against PG&E for damages suffered as a result of the 2015 Butte Fire. After more than two and a half years of information exchange, expert analysis, litigation, and mediation, both PG&E and the County have accepted a “mediator’s proposal” of $25,400,000 for all County claims and liabilities arising from the 2015 Butte Fire. The parties attended three substantive mediations, and after the final day of mediation, JAMS mediator Michael Ornstil made the mediator’s proposal.

AAA Northern California Assists Victims of Camp Fire

Chico, CA....In response to the widespread damage caused by the Camp Fire, AAA Northern California is taking action to assist its members. The AAA emergency response trailer is stationed at the Butte County Fairgrounds, 199 E Hazel St, Gridley, CA 95948. The trailer is open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 pm, and is fully staffed with employees to assist AAA insurance customers with auto and home claims and to provide additional help as needed.

PG&E Mobilizes Response to Camp Fire Impacts in Butte and Plumas Counties

San Francisco, CA....Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) today reports that it is supporting first responders and local agencies and has mobilized its Emergency Operations Center in San Francisco, as well as multiple local operations centers, to support wildfire emergency response to the Camp Fire in Butte and Plumas counties. To support these efforts in the field, PG&E will be dedicating appropriate resources to assist first responders and its customers. PG&E's first priority is the safety of customers, employees, contractors and the communities it serves.

PG&E Continues to Closely Monitor Weather Conditions Ahead of Possible Public Safety Power Shutoff in Parts of Eight Counties

San Francisco, CA...PG&E continues to closely monitor weather conditions in its service area ahead of a possible Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS). Although no final decision has been made as of 10 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, PG&E may need to turn off power for safety reasons to approximately 63,000 customers in the early morning of Thursday, Nov. 8. Localized extreme weather calling for sustained winds of 20 to 30 miles per hour, with gusts of 40 to 45 miles per hour, are forecasted overnight Wednesday into Thursday for parts of eight Northern California counties. Sonoma County is no longer expected to be impacted by a potential PSPS.

San Andreas, CA...What was the effect of three Supervisors exiling 1000 workers representing 16% of the Calaveras County workforce without even a plan to replace those jobs? Except for in touristdriven downtown Murphys, exiling those missing customers spelled R-E-C-E-S-S-I-O-N throughout the county. Data available from the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (formerly, Board of Equalization) shows a drastic drop in sales tax allocations in Calaveras County immediately following the County ban on commercial Cannabis cultivation.
