Lodi, CA...Tokay High School was the neutral floor for the third round of the playoffs. The Calaveras Redskins faced Modesto Christian. We would like to thank Diane Fischer for almost 40 shots of the game. Diane said "There was a large Calaveras crowd and in the 4th quarter we came withing 1 point." before eventually dropping the game 66-74. Congratulations again men on a great season...

Bear Valley, CA...What an epic day yesterday! 6″ of 4% density snow on top of 12″of 10% density snow with Bluebird conditions most of the day! The locals were ripping it up! Unsettled weather the next few days with a slight chance of snow through Monday. After that it looks like some warm sunny weather for awhile. Check the Sierra Avalanche Center for the Backcountry forecast!!!!!! Have a great day and ride safe! Peace out, Mattly

San Andreas, CA...The Mother Lode League powerhouse Calaveras Boys Basketball team continues to roll on. They are now into "March Madness" and will play their next playoff game will be against Modesto Christian on Wednesday night at Tokay High School in Stockton. The other Mother Lode League team still alive and playing is the Argonaut Girls Team. We would like to thank Diane Fisher for the great shots from their last victory 60-45 over Hilmar...

Bear Valley, CA...Bear Valley Cross Country's Paul Peterson and his wife spent all of last week at the Vancouver Games. They were able to take in several events, including womens GS race and the US Silver Medal in the Nordic Combined event. One of the things that Paul's trip reminded him of was how fortunate we are to have Bear Valley in our back yard...

Bear Valley, CA...Last weekend the Bay Area Open League racing series rolled through Bear Valley Mountain Resort. This series allows for adult racers and their kids to charge down the hill. Following a race clinic on Friday, the group had two full days of racing, with Slalom on Saturday and Giant Slalom racing on Sunday. Some of the racers had a few more ticks on the clock, a few gray hairs on the head, but the chatter around the timing boards could have come from the youth racing we normally follow. The talk was of personal best times, joy when a racer bested a rival and more...

Local Basketball Seasons Roll On...Bret Harte Drops a Close One to League Leading Calaveras

Angels Camp, CA...On Friday night the Bret Harte Boys team dopped a close one to league leading Calaveras with the Redskins taking it 57-55. The Redskins move to 9-1 in league play followed by 8-2 Amador. The Redskin Girls took their game as well with 49-36. We would like to thank Jeff Rasmussen for the great action shots..

The Far West Ski Series Rolls On....The 2010 Ryan Lavagnino Giant Slalom is in the Books!

Pinecrest, CA...Last weekend the Far West Central Series rolled into Dodge Ridge for the next leg of the United States Ski & Snowboard Associations Central Series Races. After starting the season off at Bear Valley with a slalom the next race on the schedule was the Ryan Lavagnino Classic Giant Slalom. Bear Valley, Dodge Ridge, Badger Pass & Sierra Summit are battling for the Rasmussen Cup that goes to the series winner each year. Dodge Ridge is currently in the lead with Bear Valley just a few points behind. The race also featured some touching reminders of the fleeting natures of our lives. The race is named after former Dodge Ridge racer Ryan Lavagnino who passed away waaay too young in a tragic car accident. Ryan was a very promising racer who counted as a career highlight of finishing ahead of Bode Miller in a junior race...

Angels Camp, CA...Bret Harte played host to Summerville for their winter homecoming game. The Bret Harte Freshman and JV won and Varsity
lost by one on a shot with 8/10 of a second remaining. Jackson Gates
