Angels Camp, CA...We are 5 games into the 2010 girls soccer season and both of our local teams are doing well. Linden & Summerville are leading league at this time but Calaveras & Bret Harte are just a game back and still very much in the hunt. Calaveras County, CA...Last week was a big week in County Baseball as Bret Harte and Calaveras played back to back games. Bret Harte took the early week meeting 1-0 and Calaveras took another close game 2-1 on Thursday. Even in defeat on Thursday the Bret Harte pitching staff featured an impressive outing by sophomore hurler Justice Rasmussen. Bret Harte now stands at 8-3 overall and 2-1 in league. Calaveras is 4-4 overall and 1-2 in league. Calaveras takes on Summerville @ Summerville tomorrow and Bret Harte has two games vs Amador in Sutter Creek....

Angels Camp, CA...The Bret Harte Baseball team started off league play on Friday with win over Argonaut. The Frogs are carrying a 1-0 in League play & 7-2 overall. They take on Calaveras @ Calaveras on Tuesday and we will be webcasting that game "Live" on ThePineTree.net. The first league matchup this year will be the start of our "Game of the Week" where we will be webcasting a Calaveras or Bret Harte game each week....(Update...Because wet weather & laptops don't mix we will be starting our "Game of the Week" webcasts after this series of storms rolls through.

Bear Valley Mountain, in partnership with Dodge Ridge Wintersports Area, announced today that both resorts will honor all veterans and active military personnel on March 30th, “Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day” with a free ski day. All military personnel with proper ID will receive a free all-day lift ticket. “We are proud to partner with Dodge Ridge to offer this program to recognize our veterans and all those who serve in the U.S. military. We are pleased that the State of California has taken a step to officially welcome our Vietnam Veterans ‘Home’ with this holiday and this free day is just a small token of our appreciation and gratitude for the years of dedication and service to our country,” said Jon Mahanna, Mountain Operations Manager for Bear Valley Mountain and Vietnam Veteran, Chapter 391.
