Jackson, CA...A Stockton man was driving a Honda southbound on SR-49 north of Old Hwy 49, at a high rate of speed. A Pine Grove woman was driving her Toyota northbound on SR-49 north of Old Hwy 49, at a stated speed of 45-50 mph. The Honda driver allowed his vehicle to drift off the west roadway edge of SR-49. He then abruptly steered it to the left, across the double yellow lines, into the Toyota's direct path of travel. She applied the Toyota's brakes but was unable to avoid a collision with the Honda.
Calaveras County Man Dies from Counterfeit Pill That Contained Fentanyl

San Andreas, CA...In October of 2021, the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office investigated the death of a young adult resident of Calaveras County. Medics and law enforcement responded to a Calaveras County residence after receiving a call for service reporting a young male adult had lost consciousness and was not breathing after consuming a pill resembling a legitimate pain medication. Deputies were the first responders to arrive at the residence, and despite administering Narcan and CPR, the male was unable to be revived. Narcan (aka: Naloxone) is a medication used for the treatment of suspected opioid overdose emergencies.
