Murphys, CA...We have a few favorite days covering our area and Irish Day is always one of those. We look at it as not only an entertainment event but also a barometer on how our local tourism economy is doing and how it might do for this year. One of the things that all of us need to be thankful for is that we live in an area that people want to visit. Tourism generates over a billion dollars a year for our coverage area. Many of our local businesses would not exist without the revenue our guests and second home owners bring. Some business owners have told us that over 50% of their revenue is from visitors.

Murphys, CA...Aria Bakery will have a sandwich special on Saturday for $10 Irish Banger Sausage Sandwich. We will also have our annual Irish Soda Bread and our soup will be Irish Stew.

Murphys, CA...About 20-30 minutes after the Irish Day Parade we took our Sky Cam from the north end of Main Street all the way to the other end. The event organizers have done a great job as the event has matured to keep activities, booths and the crowd spread along Main Street. Hospice of Amador & Calaveras Receives $5,000 from Rotary of San Andreas as 1st Annual Ragin’ Cajun Festival Brings the Mardi Gras Vibe! |

Jackson, CA...Hospice of Amador & Calaveras has accepted a check for $5,000 from Rotary Club of San Andreas as a recipient of proceeds from the organization’s 1st Annual Ragin’ Cajun Festival, held in San Andreas on March 9. The family-friendly festival, a brand-new addition to the club’s line-up of community fundraising events, featured a colorful array of Cajun-inspired food, decorations and activities for all who braved the ragin’ weather! Treats included a massive crawfish boil, fried catfish, Po’ Boys, and SIX live Zydeco and blues bands. A handful of booths with arts & crafts and other Mardi Gras-inspired wares lined the street.
