Arnold, Ca...Artist Ann Nancy Macomber of Arnold, California, has received a Special Recognition Award in the "16th Annual All Media Juried Online International Art Exhibition" hosted by Upstream People Gallery. This international exhibition received approximately 150 art entries from around the world and 30 artists were selected by the juror Laurence Bradshaw, Professor of Art at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, U. S. A. Professor Bradshaw states this about this specially recognized work: "'ANN NANCY MACOMBER of Arnold, California presents the show a colorful and moving curvilinear quilt with imagery of a butterfly that seems to have flown throughout the space. Mokelumne Hill, CA....This is a time of Patriotic Fun in Mokelumne Hill as well as, a must see for all locals and visitors, alike. Deborah Marlene's Gallery will add to the "fun" by hosting vendors who are in her gallery...outside. All around the outside and inside the Gallery, there will be art demonstrations and a chance to meet talented artisans; including Ingrid Brown of Burson, Clover Gibbs of Mokelumne Hill, and Ron and Carole Kamerlink of Forest Meadows, who sell jewelry at Deborah's. Ruth and Arvid Morrow of Arnold, will be on the side patio show casing her unique painting style. Saundra Mauer, of Murphys will join them in that area and be doing watercolor demonstrations. New to the group will be Steve Bennetts of Burson, who's business "Creative Wood Design" will be represented next to the Gallery....

Murphys, CA....The paintings of Jeanne Townsend are back by popular demand for the month of July at Hovey Winery Tasting Room, 350 A Main St., Murphys. An artist’s reception will be held in her honor from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Sunday July 6. Complimentary appetizers will be served and wine will be available by the glass for $5. “I might be pretty biased, but my sister is an incredible artist and person,” noted Jan Hovey. “Her paintings are representative of how she ‘feels’ about a certain subject, and her talent for transforming that on canvas is undeniable.”

Inside the Gallery is cool and you are invited to come and see the ever changing display of local art. "I have truly enjoyed hosting and getting to know different artists for eight months now", says Deborah. " My Mission is to showcase local artists and artisans and I am currently booked with guest Artists through October. If you are a local Artist and interested in joining the gallery as an "Artist Friend of the Month", you are welcome to stop in with samples of your work. This month Deborah is welcoming Sherrie Palmer as her Artist Friend of the Month. Sherrie moved to Arnold from Concord in 2003, and now resides in Arnold with her husband Lyle. She is a past President of the Arts of Bear Valley and a Certified Oil Painting instructor. Sherrie has participated in art classes in community college and workshops in Vallejo, CA, Portland, OR, and Murphys. Calaveras Arts Council Announces Summer Filled Fun

The Calaveras Arts Council announces lots of fun this summer both in their new Gallery Store and in the local parks throughout the county. The free Wednesday evening summer series, Music in the Parks, begins on June 11 in Copperopolis and ends ten weeks later in Murphys on August 13. To help pay for these performances, the arts council is launching its membership drive to sign up new members and to re-sign existing members. Individual membership is $35 and Family membership is $50. Membership is from July 1 to June 30. Membership gives you that special feeling for supporting the arts as well as discounts at event ticket sales and Gallery Store purchases. The big August 2 fundraiser in Sheep Ranch, Cajun Fete Dinner and Dance Party, tickets for members is $65/each; for non-members they are $75/each. Enjoy the savings by becoming a member...
