Search Continues for Suspects in Death of Roy Dixon |

San Andreas, CA...On 10/14/1997 at approximately 0230 hours, Deputies responded to the area of Winton Road in West Point for a report of gunshots heard. A fire was later reported in the same area as the gunshots. Deputies responded and located a body approximately four feet from the burning vehicle. The deceased male was later identified as Roy Dixon.

Mokelumne Hill, CA...There is fire activity in the Mokelumne Hill/Mountain Ranch Area. Jesus Maria Road is closed between Highway 26 and Music Gulch. The Calaveras County Sheriff's Office is actively monitoring the Maria wildfire that originated in Mokelumne Hill/Mountain Ranch. There are evacuation orders and warnings in effect. For the latest evacuation orders and warnings, please visit the Calaveras OES website. Stay informed with real-time updates by signing up for Emergency Alerts. The Calaveras County Sheriff's Office urges all residents to remain prepared and to follow any evacuation orders or safety instructions from emergency personnel. Maria Fire Update....50 Acres, 5% Contained, Access to Fire Perimeter is Difficult |

Mokelumne Hill, CA...Firefighters are continuing to fight the 50 acre fire that is 5% contained. Access to the fire perimeter is difficult. Many resources are responding from out of the area to assist. Resources at scene include 14 engines, 3 water tenders, 8 crews, 7 dozers, and overhead. Temperatures are expected to be around 102-106 degrees with gusty winds this afternoon. For public information please call (209) 754-5527.

Domestic Violence Arrest Leads to Six Felony Charges |

West Point, CA...On June 27, 2024, at about 5:30 PM, deputies contacted the victim of a domestic violence incident that occurred a few days earlier in the 2000 block of Lily Gap Road, West Point. The victim told deputies they arrived home to find suspect Jordan Fox Peters, age 27, of West Point, apparently under the influence of drugs. The victim explained that suspect Jordan has a history of violence while under the influence of drugs and did not feel safe being around him in his intoxicated condition.
