Mokelumne Hill, CA...On 06/27/2016 at approximately 1730 hours, a 65 year old Mokelumne Hill man was riding an Arctic Cat ATV eastbound on Jesus Maria Rd., west of Baker Riley Way. For an undetermined reason, he turned the ATV to the right causing it to travel off the south side of the roadway. The front of the Arctic Cat collided with a Dodge 3500 truck that was parked, facing in a northerly direction in a driveway. As a result of the collision, he was ejected from the ATV and came to rest in the roadway. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The use of alcohol is suspected as a contributing factor in this collision. P-1 was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

On the Cannabis ballot measures....the "Manage" initiative has been accepted and the "Ban" initiative has been rejected for now as they work through a couple of legal issues. It is still possible that both will end up on November ballots.

San Andreas, CA...Calaveras High School was faced with AB30 this year which mandated the removal of our Redskin Mascot, which has been in place since the mid 1940’s. The committee chaired by Mike Koepp, CHS Athletic Director, asked for input from all sources that wished to submit their thoughts to suggest a new mascot for our school. All that data was gathered through an on-line survey as well as hand-submitted forms to our office.
