Calaveras County Sheriff Rick DiBasilio On Marijuana & Calaveras Public Safety

Posted by: thepinetree on 03/27/2017 03:32 PM
San Andreas, CA...I have been repeatedly asked about Marijuana and the safety of Calaveras citizens. In addition, marijuana cultivation has now become a land use issue based upon decisions by the voters and the Board of Supervisors. In 2016, the previous Calaveras County Board of Supervisors chose to allow large commercial cultivation inside of residential areas of Calaveras County through an “Urgency Ordinance.”

Posted by: thepinetree on 03/21/2017 05:11 PM
Mountain Ranch, CA...Another successful home building project -- full of teamwork, sweat and love! After 18 months of living out of her camp trailer since the Butte Fire leveled her home in 2015, Mary Sacks walked 20 feet across a makeshift sidewalk of wooden pallets into her brand new home constructed entirely by volunteers. On Tuesday, Sack's modest home was formally dedicated by members of the Mennonite Disaster Services who had travelled from throughout Canada and the Northwest to help build Sack's home. About 40 people participated in the Bible readings, hymn and presentation of a handmade, heart-shaped quilt, and bible.

Sunday Morning Power Outage Update....Much Progress Made But Many Still Or Newly In Dark

Posted by: thepinetree on 01/22/2017 09:36 AM
Arnold, CA...The numbers are falling but it was another cold and dark night for many in our area. Many of these outages are new or variations from yesterday. Winds overnight brought down more trees and limbs into power lines and service drops to houses. Interestingly the total number of repair instances seems about the same or higher but the total number in the dark is dropping so they are making good progress. Another observation yesterday when we were out and about is that it didn't seem to be beetle kill trees but green living trees that were carrying a full foliage load to carry snow and hence weight. Our hats off the the crews that are working in abysmal and dangerous conditions. To make it a bit easier to read the list is below the graphic.
