West Point, CA...Richard Ray Robinson age 68, Passed away July 12th 2017 of Mesothelioma at his home in West Point Ca. He was born October 16th 1948 in French Camp Ca to Leonidas & Belva Robinson, who are both deceased. Graduated linden high school, took Agriculture for 4 years. He was also class president for awhile. Rick was an E4, Corporal, a scout sniper / specialty Rifleman in the United States Marine Corps from 09/21/1967 till 11/14/69. Medals & decorations Rick received, National Defense service, Vietnam Campaign, Rifle expert badge, Vietnam service Medal, Combat action ribbon, National defense service medal, Vietnam campaign medal w/device. Rick was a member of the VFW Post 3322 in West Point CA and post 8311 in Elk city Idaho. Also the American Legion post 376 in Glencoe CA. He worked in Logging, at Valley truss & had various other jobs. Rick’s passion in life was the great outdoors, hunting and also a bit of fishing.

Two Year Old Angels Camp Boy Injured in Rollover Collision on Hwy 4

Mokelumne Hill, CA...A 29 year old Arnold man was driving his 1991 Dodge Pckup northbound on Hwy 49 north of Mokelumne Hill at about 40 -45mph. As he was negotiating a curve to his left, he allowed his pickup to run off the east side of the highway, his vehicle traveled up a steep embankment and overturned back onto the highway, landing on it's roof. As the pickup landed on the roadway, it's roof was crushed and the arm of his two year old passenger became pinned between the roof and the roadway. Once the child's arm was freed, he was taken by American Legion Ambulance to PHI Helicopter who flew the child to UC Davis Medical Center treatment.

Sacramento Man Lost His Life in Hwy 49 Big Rig Collision

Mokelumne Hill, CA...At about 8:30pm a 42 year old Sacramento man was operating a combination commercial vehicle consisting of a truck tractor and it's two trailers, hauling asphalt from Carson Hill Rock Products in Angels Camp to a highway paving project on Hwy 88 in Amador County. He was traveling northbound on Hwy 49, north of Mokelumne Hill descending a grade towards the North Fork Mokelumne River Bridge. He reached a speed of over 40 mph, which was too fast for the truck he was driving on the steep curved roadway.

Michael D. Clark Lost His Life Last Night in Hwy 49 Big Rig Collision

Mokelumne Hill, CA...The sad notifications have been made and CHP has released that it was Michael D. Clark, 42 from Sacramento who last his life last night in a tragic big rig collision in the corners north of Mokelumne Hill approaching the river. At about 8:30pm Mr. Clark was operating a combination commercial vehicle consisting of a truck tractor and it's two trailers, hauling asphalt from Carson Hill Rock Products in Angels Camp to a highway paving project on Hwy 88 in Amador County. Mokelumne Hill, CA...CHP is reporting an overturned big rig collision on Hwy 49 near Electra between Jackson & Mokelumne Hill. It is reported that an asphalt truck has overturned and is blocking both lanes. Early reports are that the driver may be underneath the wreckage. Let's hope this proves incorrect and this one doesn't end with another fatality on our local roadways...

Mokelumne Hill, CA...Laura Jane Canty was born December 18, 1946, and passed away July 2, 2017. She was raised in Charleston, South Carolina, and traveled out to San Francisco in 1970. Jane first lived in Capitola and in 1977 moved to Mokelumne Hill where she worked for many years at the Hotel Leger. In 1989, Jane and her husband Ron Pitner started The Greenery Landscaping Company which is still in operation. Jane, Ron, and daughter Ashely were also owners of the Hotel Leger in Mokelumne Hill from 2002-2013.

The 2017 scholarship committee selected Jillian Salvetti-Baker as the recipient. Major Injuries & Night Spent Outside of Crashed Vehicle for Mokelumne Hill Woman

Mokelumne Hill, CA...On July 7th, 2017, at approximately 1500 hours, Mason was driving a 2007 GMC Yukon eastbound on Jesus Maria Road west of Music Gulch Road at approximately 20-25 miles per hour. As she approached a sharp turn in the roadway, she was unable to maintain control of her vehicle and the right side tires of the GMC traveled off of the paved portion of the roadway and and down the steep embankment. Her vehicle overturned, traveling approximately 100 feet down the embankment, coming to rest on its wheels.
