San Andreas, CA...NOTICE OF INTENT TO ADOPT A MITIGATED NEGATIVE DECLARATION. LEAD AGENCY: Calaveras County Planning Department, 891 Mountain Ranch Rd., San Andreas, CA 95249 2016-002 Tentative Parcel Map for West Point Dollar General: The applicant is requesting approval of a Tentative Parcel Map to divide a 4.42-acre parcel into two (2) separate legal parcels. The purpose of the land division is to accommodate a Dollar General store planned to be constructed on proposed parcel 1. The vacant property has a General Plan land use designation of Community Center and is zoned C2 (General Commercial). The project will be accessed via a proposed access and public utilities easement extending from an existing driveway on Highway 26. In addition, the applicant has made a request for a road modification to reduce the standards for on-site road improvements required by the County Road Ordinance. The initial study has been further revised to analyze potential project related impacts to aesthetics, noise, and greenhouse gas emissions in addition to making mandatory findings of significance. The subject property is located at on Highway 26 in West Point. APN: 008-016-009 is a portion of Block 4, Lot 12, Por. Lot 3. The department recommends approval of the mitigated negative declaration.
Mokelumne Hill, CA...On June 30, 2017 at approximately 1643 hours, San Andreas Area CHP officers were dispatched to a head-on traffic collision that occurred on SR-26 just east of Sky High Drive. Mrs. Davis was driving her 2016 GMC Acadia eastbound on SR-26 at an unknown speed. Mr. Noble was driving his 1986 Suzuki Samurai westbound on SR-26 at approximately 30 to 35 MPH. For an unknown reason, Mrs. Davis allowed her vehicle to travel into the opposing lane, where it collided head-on with Mr. Noble's Suzuki. Both drivers sustained major injuries, and were flown to Modesto for treatment.
Motorcycle Collision Takes Life of Allen Oxender, 65 of Sonora

Mokelumne Hill, CA...(Location Updated) Allen Oxender, 65 of Sonora was riding his 2012 Harley Davidson northbound on Hwy 49 south of the county line. He was riding at an unknown speed, approaching a right curve in the roadway. He failed to safely negotiate the curve in the roadway and collided with the guardrail ejecting both he and his passenger.

Major Injuries to Lodi Woman in Motorcycle Collision

Glencoe, CA...A 44 year old Lodi man was riding his 2006 Harley Davidson with his passenger a 39 year old Lodi woman westbound on Hwy 26 near Rich Gulch Road. They entered a left hand curve in the roadway at approximately 30 mph. He failed to safely negotiate the curve and traveled onto the right shoulder where he lost control of the motorcycle and overturned ejecting both rider and passenger. The Lodi woman traveled off a small embankment where she collided with a tree.

Jackson, CA...On Monday, June 19, Sierra foothill residents staged a powerful silent protest at Rep. Tom McClintock’s Argonaut High School town hall meeting in Jackson, California. Dressed in the red robes and stark white bonnets featured in the 1985 Margaret Atwood novel, The Handmaid's Tale, a dozen women, ages 12-70, walked into the center of the gym in pairs to protest McClintock’s tenure in office and his voting record. During his time in the House, McClintock (R-CA) has voted against pay equity for women, protections against sexual harassment and discrimination, and the Violence Against Women Acts of 2009 and 2013.
Major Injuries to Wilseyville Man When Pinned Between Vehicle & Gas Pump

West Point, CA...At approximately 1500 hours, Snyder was driving a Ford southbound on SR-26, approaching Main St.
Benjamin E. Breeke, 39 from Wilseyville was standing outside of his Chevrolet, which was parked next to the gas pumps, at the gas station, located on the southwest corner of SR-26 and Main Street. He was standing in between Chevy and the gas pumps. For an unknown reason, Snyder lost control of her Ford. The Ford traveled to the right and off of the roadway into the gas station parking lot where the front of the Ford collided with the left side of Chevy. The impact pushed the Chevy into Breeke, pinning him in between his Chevy and the gas pump.

Railroad Flat, CA...(Update...Returned Safe & we spoke with Mikaila and she said she left voluntarily and just wanted someplace to stay for a few days) On 06/19/17 at about 8:25 PM, The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office received a missing persons report on a 17-year-old female, Mikaila Dawn Hodges, out of Railroad Flat. Mikaila Hodges is allegedly in the company of 37-year-old Michael Allen Stewart out of Yuba County. They were last seen together in Railroad Flat area on 06/14/17. Mikaila Hodges has been in contact with family and friends but will not disclose her whereabouts.
