Fowler, the author of six novels and three short story collections has written literary, contemporary, historical, and science fiction. Columbia, CA...Columbia College will hold its 49th Commencement on Friday, April 27 at 6:00 p.m. in the Oak Pavilion. A brief reception for the graduates and guests will be held immediately after the ceremony in Carkeet Park next to the pavilion. The 297 students in the 2018 graduating class have earned a total of 136 Associate of Arts Degrees and 149 Associate of Science Degrees. Forty students will graduate with Distinction (cumulative grade point averages of 3.75 or better) and 35 with honors (between 3.5 and 3.74 grade point averages).

Mountain Ranch, CA...Can You Handle The Mud? The 2018 Stop Drop & Mud 5k is April 28th! What is the Stop, Drop & Mud? We are proud to be bringing a mud run to Mountain Ranch again this year. For our 2nd Annual Central Fire Mud Run we are planning approximately 16 obstacles along the route that will range from fire fighter skills to strength and endurance tests. Participants will start and finish at the Mountain Ranch Park in the heart of Mountain Ranch. All participants will receive a 2018 Stop, Drop & Mud T-shirt.
Arnold, CA....The National Weather has issued an update on the Weather Changes for Interior Northern California this Week...A couple of Pacific weather systems will bring rain, mountain snow, breezy winds and colder temperatures to interior northern California this week. The first Pacific weather system will weaken at it moves inland today. This system will bring light rain mainly to the mountains in northern California, and locally breezy winds and cooler temperatures. Snow levels will generally remain above the Sierra Nevada passes.

Investigation Underway for Motorcycle Rider Shot Highway 26 West of Mokelumne Hill

Mokelumne Hill, CA...On Sunday 4/8/18 at approx. 1737 hours the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a 911 call of a motorcycle down near Highway 26 west of Mokelumne Hill. CHP units responded and fire/medics also arrived on scene. CHP contacted the Sherriff’s Office and advised that the injured male motorcycle rider appeared to be the victim of a gunshot wound. Sheriff’s Patrol Units and Sheriff’s Detectives responded to the scene to conduct a criminal investigation. Highway 26 between Mokelumne Hill and Paloma Road remained closed throughout the night and into the morning as Sheriff’s Investigators worked at the scene.
