San Andreas, CA...If you were looking for many of the "Powers That Be" yesterday afternoon one good place to find them was Classroom 3 at Mark Twain St. Joseph's Hospital. It was another of the ongoing Economic Development meetings that have been spearheaded by the Calaveras Chamber of Commerce. Attending and participating were representatives from the Calaveras Board of Supervisors, Calaveras County Community Development Agency, Angels Camp City Council, Calaveras Visitors & Convention Bureau, Calaveras Business Council, Agricultural Groups, Community Groups & more...

Angels Camp, CA...On our way out of packed showing of the new Indiana Jones film we stopped to chat with Angels Theater manager Jeff Olson. He was a happy and tired man. Saturday they set a new record for customers in a single day...

Railroad Flat, CA.....There will be one last Candidates Night this evening. The Railroad Flat Community Club will be hosting a District 2 Supervisor Candidates' Night" at the Railroad Flat Community Hall on May 14, from 7-9pm. Refreshments will be served (if you would like to donate cookies please email janet at rrfccrrf@gmail.com. Both candidates, John Morse and Steve Wilensky will present their opening statements which will be followed by questions and answers. Come and listen to both sides so you will be better prepared to vote on June 3rd.....

Railroad Flat, CA....An escaped debris burn was the official cause of the 3/4 acre vegetation fire that occurred in Saturday May 3rd at 813 Prussian Hill in Railroad Flat according to CAL Fire. No injuries and no dollar damage reported. Fire report enclosed.....

San Andreas, CA...After a round of public meetings, including a study session with the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors, and much public dialogue we can report the following to you. We confirmed that the Building Department changed the way they “interpret” our current Fire and Life Safety Code mid year 2007. They were strongly challenged for taking this new position and we did have some limited success in softening the impact. Where the mitigation since 1992 was to pave the driveway, that is no longer the rule of the land....

Angels Camp, CA...We had the pleasure to chat for a few minutes with The Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce's Executive Director, Diane Gray. One of the big pushes for the Chamber this year will be Economic Development and bringing additional jobs to the county. The Chamber is meeting with Calaveras County Board of Supervisors Chair, Steve Wilensky next week. A Supervisor's Study Session will be held at a later date on Economic Development. This will enable what everyone can do to enhance the economic vitality of our area....
