Sender’s Market Ace Hardware March Red Hot Buys! Shop Local & Save! |

Mountain Ranch & Valley Springs, CA...In 1950, we started out as a family operation with Erich’s father and mother, August and Freida Sender, in a century-old adobe building. The upstairs was home to the Sender family, and the first floor included groceries, a meat market, a bar, and a small eating place called Opa’s Smokehouse. On Christmas morning in 1968, the old store was destroyed by fire. But in June 1969, Sender’s Market, Inc. was opened. Since that time, there have been many changes, including remodeling, expansion, and the addition of many employees. That’s also when we added the truss plant and purchased Sender’s Market Ace Hardware in Valley Springs. Today, we’re still family owned and still working hard to stock everything from pantry essentials to power tools. Arnold, CA...PG&E crews have been working hard playing whack a mole on outages throughout our coverage area. Many outages have been taken care of while new ones have been popping up. After battling through a tree into powerlines that closed Hwy 4 near Forest Meadows earlier it looks like the Twain Harte area has been hit with outages. The numbers of those out in the Mountain Ranch, Rail Road Flat, West Point & Pioneer areas continues to drop.

Richard “Dick” Eugene Klith 1932 - 2023 |

Rail Road Flat, CA...Richard “Dick” Eugene Klith was born in Bookings, South Dakota on July 30, 1932. Richard moved to Angels Camp with his mother, Ethel Francis, who married Sam Soracco and moved to Rail Road Flat. He attended Rail Road Flat Elementary and Calaveras high school. After high school he joined the military and was a mechanic in the Air Force during the Korean War. After the military he came back home and worked at the Wilseyville Mill and became a timber faller.
