Economic Development Candidates Night With District 3 Supervisor Focus May 6 At Sequoia Woods (Tonight!!)

Arnold, CA...With a focus on economic development, candidates for County Supervisor in District 3 will assemble for a questions and answers session at the Sequoia Woods Country Club in Arnold on Tuesday May 6. Candidates for other county races will open the event for the first half hour, followed by a one-hour Q&A session for the county supervisor contenders. This event will begin at 6:00 PM with meet and greet hour. Voters are encouraged to come early and enjoy a beverage or meal from the lounge menu while personally meeting the candidates. In addition to the supervisors, those vying for sheriff and the two superior court benches will be present. The Q&A sessions begin at 7:00 PM.


The Calaveras Economic Development Company and the County Chamber of Commerce are sponsoring this event. Voters may submit questions for the candidates in advance to Contact@CalaverasLife.com.

Angels Camp, CA...The Bret Harte Boys capped off a perfect 16-0 Season on Friday with a Mother Lode League Varsity Championship on their home water. It was the best results in the team's 14 year history. The Lady Frogs hopped into second and Calaveras Boys were Third and the Girls were fourth. Feeney Park Had The Discs Flying For The Vibram Birdie Bash

Murphys, CA.....On April 27th Feeney Park was filled with team after team competing in a Vibram Birdie Bash. Gabe Bridges was the event coordinator and Vibram was the sponsor. 65 players pre-registered and played 2 rounds of 18 holes for various prizes. The winner was from Team Bear Valley, Jeff Brown, who scored 48 points. It was beautiful spring weather and the multi-use community park was full of players & supporters from all over. Folks came from Pleasanton, Modesto & Tuolumne County. Lots of families with young kids, fathers & sons playing and even a couple of gals competed. This weekend is "The Worlds Biggest Disc Golf Weekend" with events all over the world. Our area now has several courses all over our area including up in Bear Valley for some high altitude fun...

The 12th Annual Relay for Life of Calaveras County Is Underway....Stop By and Donate!!

Angels Camp, CA...The 12th Annual Relay for Life of Calaveras County got underway with a rousing and sentimental start this morning. With airplane Fly Overs, Survivors Laps, Tributes and Stories from those who have been victorious in their battle against the scourge of our age. Progress is being made every year and now cancers that were statistically fatal only a few years ago are becoming manageable conditions. All of this takes research time and money. Stop by the Bret Harte track tonight or early in the morning and make a donation and cheer them on. The "Walking Man From Murphys" Ex-Marine Ric Ryan is out making laps and hopes to walk a full 24 hours and is taking donations for each lap.

9th Annual Slush Cup Does Not Disappoint

Bear Valley, CA...The 9th Annual Slush Cup, benefitting the Bear Valley Snowsports Education Foundation (BVSEF) was held on Sunday, April 20th at Bear Valley Mountain under sunny spring skies. True to the name, the Slush Cup proved to be a slushy snow condition head-to-head racing affair for the Finals that are historically held on Sunday of the ski area’s closing weekend. Each year the Slush Cup provides a competitive throw down for local alpine skiers, snowboarders and Telemark enthusiasts. There are various age groups for both Male and Female categories in each discipline based on being an alpine or non- alpine competitor and the fastest run of the finals declares the winner in each division....
