Bear Valley, CA...Arts of Bear Valley is thrilled to return for its 22 annual summer art show and sale to be held in the Perry Walther Building next to the Bear Valley Music Festival tent. Opening day of the show was Friday, July 26,at 5:00 pm in conjunction with the first concert of the season. Admission to the all new art show is free and one or more of the artists will be on hand to answer questions about the artwork. The show will be open regularly at 11 am through concert intermissions. Closing day is August 11 following the concert.

Arnold, CA.... Fishing on the Highway 4 corridor has been excellent due to all of the recent trout plants. There will be kids fishing derby at Lake Alpine this upcoming Friday. Trout plants this week include White Pines Lake, Angels Creek, The North Fork of the Stanislaus, and Beaver Creek. Lake Alpine has been planted this past week. Please be careful with your fires as we are in the midst of our FIRE season. Please obtain a fire permit before camping. You can contact our CDF at 209-795-1381 for up to date information regarding camping and fire safety....

Arnold Rim Trail Association staffs the Ebbetts Pass Death Ride aid station this past weekend, July 13th

Hermit Valley, CA...Nineteen intrepid volunteers, many who are Arnold Rim Trail Association steering committee members, docents and ART trail users, staffed the Ebbetts Pass aid station for the Death Ride this weekend. Approximately 2,000 riders came through our station, many of them twice, and we worked like crazy... and loved every minute of it. A huge thanks again to Dave Edney who served as "Captain Dave", expertly directing the entire team.

Markleeville, CA...Another full field of 3,500 pre-registered riders will try and climb the five pass ride that includes 129 miles and 15,000+ feet of lung busting climbing. This ride is a legendary test of physical endurance and fitness and each year there is a lottery system for those who would like to ride. Who knows how large the ride would be if it was open to all who wanted to enter every year...
The Now 25,733 Acre Bison Fire Stays Active Most of The Night

Gardnerville, Nev. - Great Basin Management Type 2 Team 3, operating under Incident Commander Mike Whalen, reports fire fighters made progress today even though the fire increased in size to 25,733 acres, with almost all of the acreage increase on the north side of the incident. The fire is now 25 percent contained with an estimated revised full containment date of July 14....
