Big Trees, CA...Calaveras Big Trees State Park New Docent Orientation Classes (This training is mandatory for all new park volunteers.). March 12 , Wednesday, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM and April 9, Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. (choose one) Jack Knight Hall (near the old Visitor Center). San Andreas, CA....Mark Twain Medical Center announces the successful recruitment of Dr. Shiva Singhal to the Mark Twain Cancer Center, where she will be joining Dr. Robert D’Acquisto and staff, serving the Tri-County area. “We are thrilled to welcome another outstanding Oncologist to our Cancer Center Practice,” said Craig Marks, Hospital President. “Over the past year we have expanded upon our care to the community, and we are continuing to grow. Dr. Singhal brings tremendous experience in specialty care as a Hospitalist, Internal Medicine Physician and family practice experience from the Chicago area and the East Coast.” Dr. Singhal completed her Doctorate of Medicine at Lady Hardinge, followed by a Residency in Internal Medicine at Saint Joseph Hospital, University of Illinois, in Chicago, IL and Fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at the University of Missouri, where she served as Chief Fellow....

Bear Valley, CA...Bear Valley Cross Country was blessed by Mother Nature this week when we received a whopping four feet of new snow! The snow level was predicted to be above 7,500 feet, but luckily the snow level stayed below Bear Valley. We could not have asked for more perfect snow conditions for the upcoming Presidents' Holiday Weekend and Ski Week. Aspen Forest, Bjornloppet, Quick Connect, Osborne Ridge, Ridgerunner, Stanislaus Lookout, as well as all of the meadows trails, and the tubing and sledding areas are all open and groomed. By Friday afternoon, we plan to have Equipe groomed too. Come up to Bear Valley and enjoy the best conditions of the season!

Fireworks, Torchlight Parades, Crab Feeds, Races, Tubing, Cross Country Skiing, Snowmobiling, Snowshoeing, Fat Biking and much, much more. Mother Nature brought the snow and crews have been hard at work opening up more and more terrain. Bear Valley will have the entire upper mountain open including Polar Express their high speed, quad chair. Come out on February 15th for our WINTER EXPLOSION! Bear Valley, CA...February 10th 2014. Hey Good People! Another 2″ has fallen overnight to bring our storm total to 52″!!!!!!!!! Today we will see a 50 percent chance of snow showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 42. South wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light and variable in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 24 mph. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. Stay tuned………..Peace Out, Mattly
