Bear Valley, CA...Much needed precipitation has made a return to grace early April. So you can rest assured there will be a few additional May flowers as a result. The details for the West Slope Northern Sierra Nevada is as follows. Today At lower elevations...rain showers in the morning... Then rain showers...snow showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs 35 to 50 higher elevations...49 to 55 lower elevations. Snow accumulation up to 1 inch. Prevailing southwest winds up to 10 mph.

Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People! Friday is here and here comes some weather! As low pressure settles in over California and the West Coast precipitation is expected. Warm temps over the last week coupled with the current warm front of the system is lending warmer than normal temps to this system so a mix of rain and snow is expected over the next 5-6days. The High today is expected to come in around 48F with west winds from 5-9mph. The low temps over the next few days will struggle to come in below 34F then Tuesday evening it could go into the upper 20's. The Grizzly bowl was closed for the season Thursday due to non freezing over night temps and the snowpack was trying to stay cohesive but just not able to do so. Our final weekend for the season will bring the Pass Holders BBQ and the 11th Annual slush Cup on Sunday so come on up to Bear Valley and enjoy the ride! All weather Highway 4 is the easiest drive to any resort on the West slope! We're about "Pure Mtn Fun" so come check us out.

Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People! I just wanted to give everyone a heads up about the Grizzly Bowl and conditions.......Last nights low was 46F and coupled with the previous weeks heat laden days, conditions in the lower mtn have gotten better in an ever narrowing window of open to close. Today that has changed. Deep melt is currently the thing at 9:26am and with loose wet slides already occurring today we have made the call to close it down for the day and the rest of the season.
Alpine County Heritage Tourism Rededicate Historic Sites

Markleeville, CA...A day of historic recognition and rededication is set for Saturday, April 9, 2016 for three Markleeville main street locations. The rededication ceremonies will begin at noon across from the courthouse in Markleeville. The first is the Charles W. Barrett Memorial Fountain, originally erected in 1941, to honor the former sheriff of Alpine County. Next is the Markleeville Heritage Park and Nature Area, located adjacent to the Alpine County Courthouse. This is the former location of the United States Forest Service guard station.

Lows 29 to 44 higher elevations...41 to 49 lower elevations. Prevailing southwest winds up to 10 mph shifting to the southeast after midnight.

Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People! After a day of Pond Skimming, Brewfest, Jib Jam and more it's time to relax and ski/ride the beautiful spring corn skiing!!! The high today should be 57F with winds out of the SW from 5-10mph. High pressure ridging is in full effect and the spring corn style skiing/riding is off the cobb!!!! 4 or 5 more days of sunny weather then a chance of snow later in the week. Come on up to Bear Valley and enjoy the ride! All weather Highway 4 is the easiest drive to any resort on the West slope! We're about "Pure Mtn Fun" so come check us out.
