Hey Good People!! "Pure Mountain Fun" Is Back As Bear Valley Reopens After Storm

Posted by: thepinetree on 02/10/2017 08:27 AM
Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People! Expect delays this morning as Patrol will be doing Avalanche Control work and teams will be recovering from all the rain and new snowfall. The Lower Mtn will be closed today to let the new snow bond to the old snow interface and also let some more water leach farther down into the snowpack. 7" of new snow at the base area and 12" at the summit overnight. Another 3-7" is expected during the day today and 2-4" tonight!!!!! The high today is expected to be around 37F with winds out of the WSW from 11-23mph. Continued snowfall today and tonight will finally give way to clearing by Saturday mid day and a reprieve from the copious amounts of rainfall we have been getting. Next week looks like another return of decent snowfall so keep checking in over the weekend and I'll have more to share on that. Come on up and experience our local "Pure Mtn Fun" ethos and stay tuned..........

Hey Good People!! Snow Returns Soon & Lifts Suspended Feb 9th!! ~Bear Valley Update By Mattly Trent

Posted by: thepinetree on 02/09/2017 10:40 AM
Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People! Due to heavy snowfall, rain, wind and High Avalanche Danger, LIFT OPERATIONS WILL BE SUSPENDED today- 2/9/17. Will Update this afternoon. Another day of rain is upon us and well........is what it is! The projected high today is to be around 45F with a South wind from 31-50mph. Up to 1" of rain is expected today and more tonight before some cooling brings snow back into the mix. A possible 2-4" tonight of new snow and 3-5" of snow during the day Friday. It's all about timing right now and when the moisture arrives as to when snowfall will start. With the amount of rain saturation in the snow pack bonding has been the huge culprit here or lack there of. Think of the slushy drink at the Fair and add 2 cups of water to it and that's what we have out on the ski hill, simply put I know but that's what is driving our decision to remain closed for another day. We will update everyone later this afternoon as we assess what we will do for Friday Feb 10 2017. "Bear" with us and when we reopen, come on up and experience our local "Pure Mtn Fun" ethos and stay tuned..........

Weather Forces Bullwheels To Be Idle On Wednesday At Bear Valley!

Posted by: thepinetree on 02/07/2017 07:18 PM
Bear Valley, CA...Unfortunately the intense rain, slush and snow has created very unsafe conditions on the slopes and the roads. For the safety of all that might be thinking about traveling to our special part of the Sierra, we encourage you to stay home safe at this time. We WILL NOT OPERATE LIFTS on Wednesday, February 8th. We will evaluate conditions and weather Wednesday afternoon and post our plans for Thursday, February 9th as soon as determined. The village restaurants are open and ready to serve a hot meal if you are in town. Thanks for your patience as we ride out Mother Nature. What a season!!
