Bear Valley, CA.....For the first time in over four years, Jazztrax Snowshoe Stomp racers took to the starting line on a day brimming with beautiful sunshine and warm temperatures. Fifty snowshoe racers set off across a race course designed by Paul Peterson of Bear Valley Cross Country, in what was the largest field ever for this iconic event. Before raising the race flag, Race Director Patty Jo Struve brought everyone to attention with her trumpet solo rendition of our country’s National Anthem.....

Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People! Some moderate winds out of the NE will happen today as the High pressure system rolls over northern California. A cooling trend for the next few days will be upon us. Over the past two days there has been a rapid increase of ensemble members showing a pattern change for the central west coast to a stormy one. Some of the Grizz Bowl gates will remain closed through out the week, due to firm/icy conditions. Record Crowd Turns Out To Stomp for Music!~by Patrick Works

Bear Valley, CA.....This weekend's Sixth Annual Jazztrax Snowshoe Stomp at Bear Valley Cross Country found sun, snow, and a record turnout crowd to spend the day stomping the snow in support of the Vallecito Music Boosters' Club. Patty Joe (P.J.) Struve, race director and overall head stomper, was on hand to lead the pack with the national anthem played on her trumpet, as an enormous pack of snow-shod locals, visitors from throughout the Bay Area, and this reporter found a sunny start to this winter event. Past year's Snowshoe Stomp races have been met with actual snowfall, and at times near blizzard conditions. This year it was all sun and fun.....

The ECMWF is faster with the change bringing snow to the high country as early as the following weekend with the GFS holding it off until the following Monday the 14th. Truckee, CA...Northstar At Tahoe rolled out the red carpet for the USSA Junior Olympic Qualifier in Giant Slalom this last weekend. Close to 200 of the best skiers on the west coast descended on one of the crown jewels of the North Tahoe area. The Northstar at Tahoe race department, grooming crews and race team did a great job of providing a great, challenging race course. The racers vied to be the fastest down the long course that rewarded strength, speed and stamina....
