Markleeville, CA....Alpine County will mark the 150th anniversary of its founding beginning this March. Headed by the Alpine County 150th Ad Hoc committee and Alpine County Supervisor Donald Jardine, a variety of events are being planned, beginning with a proclamation reading on March 18, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Turtle Rock Park on Highway 89 during the regularly scheduled Board of Supervisors meeting that begins at 9:00 AM. The proclamation will be followed by a luncheon at noon at the Alpine County Early Learning Center on 100 Foothill Road on Highway 88. Invited guests are Terry Wardley, staff member with California State Senator Ted Gaines (R) and Dana Jorgensen, staff member with Assembly Member Frank Bigelow (R). Highs 41 to 56 higher elevations...51 to 61 lower elevations. Snow level 7000 feet in the morning. Prevailing southwest winds up to 10 mph. Over ridges...prevailing west winds 15 to 30 mph decreasing to up to 10 mph in the afternoon. Tonight: Partly cloudy in the evening then becoming mostly cloudy. At lower elevations...a slight chance of rain after midnight. At higher elevations...a slight chance of rain and snow after midnight. Lows 27 to 42 higher elevations...38 to 46 lower elevations.
