Hey Good People! Precipitation Is On Way ~ By Mattly Trent

Posted by: thepinetree on 12/09/2014 02:14 PM
Bear Valley, CA....Hey Good People! Partly sunny today with a high near 52. Light and variable wind becoming southwest 5 to 7 mph in the morning. So the big question is "what's on the way"? Well, here goes... now that we are closer to the system arriving the models and snow totals have become more inline. Starting Wednesday, we'll see a we bit o' rain during the day then turning to a mix of rain snow Wednesday night and then into full on snow Thursday and into Friday. During the day on Thursday 1-3" is expected, Thursday night we could see 10-14" and another 3-5" during the day on Friday. Still possible for Friday night into Saturday is more but no totals on that part yet. High winds will also play a factor in this system so batten down the hatches! The good thing with the warm temps in the beginning is the ability for the warmer snow to bond with the current (on the ground) snow layer. This is an ideal set up for all California Ski Areas. Some forecasters are touting this as the most significant storm of the season so far! Keep those snow dances and shout outs to ULLR going! Peace Out, Mattly

They Are Skiing & Boarding In Bear Valley....Weather Update ~By Mattly Trent

Posted by: thepinetree on 12/07/2014 10:31 AM
Bear Valley,CA...Hey Good People! Partly sunny today with a high near 48. Winds will be out of the South southwest from 6 to 11 mph. Tonight and into Monday there is a 20% chance of rain & snow then becoming partly cloudy Monday evening and turning into a sunny day for Tuesday. A significant storm system will move into the area on Wednesday and be a producer with water values aloft coming in around the 5" range. High winds are also expected to impact our area so this could very well be the snowfall we have all been waiting for. Stay tuned.........Peace Out, Mattly

Mattly's Bear Valley Weather Update for Dec 6th 2014. Kuma Chair Opens Today ~By Mattly Trent

Posted by: thepinetree on 12/06/2014 08:59 AM
Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People! Today we'll see a chance of rain and snow showers mainly before 10am. Mostly cloudy skies with a high near 44F and South southwest winds from 9 to 11 mph. As the front moves over us today the likelyhood of precip is fairly small. By this afternoon in it's wake we'll start to see some clearing(mostly coudly) and the same for Sunday. Another small system pushes throught the area late Sunday night and into Monday yet that seems to have only a small possibility of precip with it. A few days of Partly Sunny skies follows with the next system coming in again on Wednesday night and into Friday. This system will be a producer, high winds and heavy precip coupled with cold upper air mass aloft could be the storm we have been waiting for. Currently the projection is for 2-5" of water in the upper Jet so that could mean copious amounts of snowfall if all things work in our favor. I'll get to more on that as the week progresses but in the meantime keep doing those snow dances and shout outs to ULLR! stay tuned....... Peace Out, Mattly

Snow Continues To Build In Bear Valley ~By Mattly Trent

Posted by: thepinetree on 12/05/2014 07:50 AM
Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People! Cooler temps last night allowed us to continue snow making operations and we're stoked about that. Today the high will be around 43F with winds out of the South from 3-8mph. A slight chance of on and off rain/snow showers today are expected between 10am-4pm then turning to snow showers through most of the night. Again, the temps will dictate rain vs snow but there's a good chance with a cool pool of atmospheric air aloft that snow will be more than not. Saturday will be pretty much the same then give way to a nice sunny Sunday with lingering cloud cover. 2-4" is possible for the next few days. Next week looks favorable for us with snow levels potentially dropping below 5000' but I'll get into that on Monday. Peace Out, Mattly

The Base Is Building In Bear Valley! Weaher Update ~ By Mattly Trent

Posted by: thepinetree on 12/04/2014 11:48 AM
Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People! The Snow Survey site at lodge level picked up 5" of new snow overnight, add 4" to that from yesterday and 4" from Tuesday afternoon for a total of 13" for the storm total despite the warm temps and high rain levels!!! We now have 16" of base and well, can you say STOKED! Today expect a chance of rain and snow showers before 10am the a few degrees of cooler temps will most likely produce snow showers into this evening. The high will be near 40F with a South southwest wind from 7 to 9 mph. 1-2" is expected but hey, the forecast has been rough this week so we could see more. As these pulses of precipitation events continue to push through Northern/Central Cal we could pick up a few more inches of snow into the weekend and then next week looks to be on track for 2 different systems, Mon/Tues and then again on Thursday. 7000' is the expected snow level for those events but could drop lower. Thanks to all ya' all for keeping up the snow dances and shouts to ULLR, it's working! Stay tuned........Peace Out, Mattly
