Mark Twain Medical Center is Once Again Promoting Pink in the Night in Honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

San Andreas, CA...Mark Twain Medical Center (MTMC) will be promoting the importance of early detection of breast cancer, followed by prompt treatment, saves lives. The entire community is invited to participate in the annual ‘Pink in the Night’ opening ceremony October 1st, in Valley Springs at the Terrace’s (Common Grounds) at 7:00pm. All those who currently have breast cancer, survivors and support providers will be able to light a candle in tribute to those who are currently battling breast cancer, in remembrance of those that bravely lost their battle, or ones that have survived the disease.

All VUSD Schools Will Be Closed Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday Due To The Butte Fire

Avery, CA...(Update...VUSD has extended their closure for all schools through Wednesday. School to resume on Thursday) Due to the current evacuation orders from the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office the Vallecito School District will be closed on Monday and Tuesday, September 14th & 15th. The closure is for Hazel Fisher School, Albert Michelson School & Avery Middle School

Angels Camp, CA...Due to the Butte Fire Bret Harte High School will be closed on Monday. Friday night's football game will be played on Monday in Escalon starting with JV at 5:30pm
Calaveras Community Foundation Establishes Butte Fire Disaster Relief Fund

Angels Camp, CA...The Calaveras Community Foundation (a 501(c)(3) non-profit) has created the Disaster Relief Fund to provide disaster assistance in Calaveras County. The Foundation will be focusing on post-event recovery and is currently assessing how best to use its financial resources.
Donations may be sent to the Foundation at PO Box 1436, Angels Camp, 95222, or by using the PayPal button on its website: www.calaverascommunityfoundation.org. Please indicate “DRF” on your checks or in the PayPal comment box. For further information, call the Foundation Office at 209/736-1845.

Hermit Valley, CA…From Yesterday…The Ebbetts Pass Scenic Byway Association Board regretfully has decided to officially cancel our September 12th Celebration in Hermit Valley.The Butte Fire is continuing to expand aggressively and had consumed almost 32,000 acres as of this morning, homes have been lost and our friends and families are dealing with evacuations and road closures.
