A Few Minutes With Bear Valley's New GM Andrea Young

Posted by: thepinetree on 12/16/2015 10:10 PM
Bear Valley, CA...We had the pleasure to spend a few minutes with New Bear Valley Mountain General Manager Andrea Young. Our local ski resort may be owned by a public company but management is now firmly in local hands. For new GM Andrea Young reaching the top spot at the resort reflects that Bear Valley has been part of her and her entire family's life since the 1980s. Her three children have literally grown up on the slopes she now manages. Mountain Manager Chris Aguirre has been at Bear Valley for an incredible 37 years. Patrol & Resort Safety Director Mattly Trent and Snow Sports Director Aaron Johnson each have 21 years of Bear Valley experience...

Bear Valley Receives 18 Inches Of New Snow For Another Great Weekend! Mattly's Weather For Dec 12th 2015

Posted by: thepinetree on 12/12/2015 08:54 AM
Bear Valley, CA... Hey Good People!!!! We have received 18" of new snow in the last 48hrs!!!!!!!! Today looks to be a beautiful day with partly sunny skies most of the day and temps right around 35F for the high. Tonight brings in the next wave of snow with a 10% chance tonight and the another 8-12" is on the slate for Sunday. Winds with that system will crank up to possibly 40mph or so at times but it's a powder day and we like that!! Residual snowfall will occur on Monday and possibly drop another few inches. We will be opening the whole Front side bowl today for all of your riding pleasure. Kuma, Super Cub, Cub, Panda Carpet and the Lil Cub Carpet will be in operation. Koala chair still needs a bit more snow to go operational but access across the rim via Tuck's run will be in effect. With the arrival of Sundays system we will start making our way onto the backside and start to set that up for full time operations starting Dec 19th.(keep your fingers crossed)!

Mattlys Weather For Dec 11th 2015! 16 Inches Of New Snow!!

Posted by: thepinetree on 12/11/2015 10:12 AM
Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People!!!! After a slow start yesterday with totals for all Nor Cal resorts coming in way under NOAA's forecasts we picked up 9" of new snow overnight giving a total of 12" for the current storm cycle. Today as the system moves East it could squeeze out another 1-3" possibly during the morning hours and give way to a slight break later tonight then scattered snow through out Saturday. Sunday ramps it right back up again to bring another 9-13" by Mondays end and then a break for the rest of the week. Winds will also be a factor for Sunday event and could get up to the 25-35mph range. Initial warmer temps delayed the arrival of consistent snow fall and with that said the first 3-5" of heavy dense snow that fell makes for a great Sierra base builder!! Cold temps made their way into the area by evening last night and dropped snow levels below the 6000'. It's great set up for the coming weekend so get ready people!
