Bear Valley, CA...The 10th Annual Ebbetts Pass Century Ride (EPC) is August 19, 2017 with four route lengths to challenge a variety of cyclists. All rides start and finish in the small alpine village of Bear Valley, California at 7100 ft., and regardless which course you choose, you can expect great scenery, smooth roads, well stocked support stations with good food and some of the best cycling terrain in the country. No wonder our backyard is called the “California Alps”.

Bear Valley, CA...This year’s celebration of Beethoven continues with piano soloist Vladislav Kern (son of piano legend Olga Kern) who joins Maestro Michael Morgan and the Bear Valley Orchestra in Beethoven’s fifth (and possibly greatest) piano concerto dubbed “Emperor” dedicated to Napoleon but later retracted by the composer. The evening’s program also includes Mendelssohn’s “Scottish” Symphony (no. 3).

Stanislaus National Forest Enacts Temporary Fire Restrictions in High Hazard Areas

Sonora, CA...Due to high fire danger, the Stanislaus National Forest enacted temporary fire restrictions in High Hazard Areas on July 20, effective through the end of the official 2017 fire season. Included are the High Hazard Area map (Exhibit A), the Forest Order (Exhibit B) and the exemptions list (Exhibit C). Information on fire restrictions and the Forest Order are available at https://go.usa.gov/xRjQ5. Forest Order STF-16-2017-05 prohibits campfires, briquette barbecues and smoking outside developed campgrounds. Welding and blasting activities in are also restricted in designated High Hazard Areas of the Forest.
