Miracle March Continues with an Atmospheric River Event Starting Tonight

Arnold, CA...Heavy Snow Possible Late Tonight thru Thursday night. An atmospheric river will take aim at California this week. Snow levels will remain above major pass levels through through this evening, but will lower late tonight as a storm system from the Gulf of Alaska arrives. Heavy snow will be possible above 6500 feet with the potential for travel delays and chain controls. Total snow accumulations of 6 to 12 inches, with localized amounts up to 20 inches, are possible.

Snow levels will rapidly rise above major pass levels through Wednesday, but will lower again on Thursday as a storm system from the Gulf of Alaska arrives. Heavy snow will be possible above 6500 feet, with the potential for travel delays and chain controls.
Bear Valley, CA...As of March 19, 2018, no evidence which would help search and rescue personnel locate Mr. Mullarkey has been found. The Alpine county Sheriff’s Office is continuing to search for Mr. Mullarkey with the assistance of the Bear Valley Resort ski patrol and a military Black Hawk Helicopter. This evening a fixed wing aircraft equipped with a highly advanced surveillance system will continue the search.

The Search Continues for Tom Mullarkey, Missing Since March 14th

Bear Valley, CA...The Alpine County Sheriff’s Office has been searching for Mr. Mullarkey since March 14th with no success. Search efforts have been focused within the boundaries of the Bear Valley Resort because of the extreme avalanche danger in the surrounding wilderness and a lack of evidence suggesting Mr. Mullarkey had skied out of bounds.

Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People! 14" of new snow overnight!!!!! 28" in 24hrs and 57" of new snow in the last 72hrs! 2-4" of snow is slated to fall today with a high of 23F and a South wind up to 11mph. A break in the storm will arrive for Sunday through Monday and then unsettled snowy weather will return by Tuesday evening. It's a great time to come up and take a lesson or just enjoy the Mountain Lifestyle. Remember to ride safe, respect the Code and have a great time doing it. Arnold, CA....With the latest storm wave students in the Vallecito School District and Bret Harte School District have a snow day. The schools are closed for today.
Road Conditions Update...Hwy 88 Closed at Peddler Hill, Chain Controls On All Mountain Highways

Arnold, CA....The roadways this morning in our area area beautiful mess. We need the snow and it is pretty but it is a mess. Hwy 88 is closed at Peddler Hill so if you are in need of a powder fix for skiing or boarding Bear Valley and Dodge Ridge are your options as for Kirkwood you just can't get there from here. Unless you want to try and get to Tahoe and make your way back to Kirkwood from there. Chain controls start low on Hwy 4 from Murphys on up. On Hwy 108 from East Sonora on up and from Buck Meadows on Hwy 120. For the latest if you click on our weather link in the menu you will always get the latest information pulled from the Caltrans.
Search Still on For Missing Skier Thomas Mullarkey in Bear Valley Area

Bear Valley, CA...We just spoke with the Alpine County Sheriff's Office in Bear Valley and search continues for Thomas Mullarkey who was reported missing Wednesday evening. The search efforts centered on possible out of bounds areas yesterday and today they are are refocusing their efforts in the in bounds areas. There are National Guard helicopters at Bear Valley now and they will join the search when visibility improves. They arrived yesterday and the crews and their craft stayed in Bear Valley last night.
