Sierra Pacific Industries Reopens Its California Forestlands for Public Access |

Anderson, CA – With the reduced risk of extreme wildfire conditions, Sierra Pacific Industries (SPI) is reopening its California forestlands to public access. Closures will remain in place on SPI lands in the vicinity of the Carr, Hirz and Delta fires though 2019 to ensure the safety of the public and crews working to recover and restore the lands impacted by those fires.

Your wishes have been granted and the juice will be flowing in Murphys Community Park on Saturday. The forecast for the Motherlode from the National Weather Service's Sacramento office is below. Tonight Mostly cloudy with a chance of rain showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms early in the evening, then mostly cloudy with a chance of rain showers late in the evening. Mostly clear after midnight. Colder. Lows 44 to 56. Prevailing south winds up to 10 mph in the evening becoming light.

Sonora, CA...Open house meeting. Tuesday, Oct. 2, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Stanislaus National Forest Supervisor’s Office 19777 Greenley Road, Sonora, CA 95370. Forest Supervisor Jason Kuiken will host an open house Tuesday, Oct 2, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Stanislaus National Forest Supervisor’s Office. Members of the public may review maps and discuss the draft Environmental Impact Statement alternatives with forest staff. Maps of the proposed Over-Snow vehicle-use designations for each alternative will be on display. The Forest Service, through the OSV-Use Designation project, will designate National Forest System snow trails and areas for public OSV use on the Stanislaus NF, as well as identifying those trails that will be groomed on the forest.

Stanislaus National Forest Revises Closure Order for Donnell Fire |

Sonora, CA...Stanislaus National Forest Deputy Supervisor Scott Tangenberg signed forest order STF-16-2018-15, further revising the forest areas closed due to the Donnell Fire. Campgrounds and day use areas on Highway 108 east of Donnell Vista remain closed, but OHV recreation areas, trails and roads near Niagara Creek are now open to visitors. In addition, trails and areas west of Highland and Weiser creeks on Calaveras Ranger District are now open. This revised closure is based on the current and expected fire behavior and safety concerns due to prior fire activity. It will be in effect until Dec. 31, 2018, or until replaced or rescinded.
