Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People! 4″ of new snow on the board at 5am! The storm track slowed a bit over night and snowfall started at 2am so let’s hope it stalls a bit more and drops another 5-6″! By 10am we could see the system starting to break up and snow showers are expected for the rest of the day. A high of 36F is projected with SW winds up to 9mph. So having stated that it certainly is lining up to be a stellar pow riding day my friends. Tuesday through Thursday will be partly to mostly sunny with another system arriving by late Friday evening into Saturday. Totals for that event are still too far out so by Wednesday we should have a better handle on snowfall. The Christmas Holidays are upon us so grab your Family and Friends and head on up to Bear Valley for some Great times. As always we’re about “Pure Mtn Fun” .

Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People! Breezy conditions today as the approaching storm system brings with it tight surface gradients, so today and tomorrow we could see gusts upwards of 40mph at times. 40F looks to be the high for the day and snow should fall by late afternoon today. 5-9″ of new snow is expected tonight with another 1-3″ slated for early Monday. If things work in our favor we could see a few more inches than projected. We’ll move through the week with partly sunny skies and daytime temps will be in the mid to upper 40’s with lows in the 20’s. The models are not agreeing on the next system around Thursday or so but we’ll give it a few more days then see what they look like. It’s a great way to start full operations with a new coat of snow right before Christmas so don’t miss out and be sure to make plans to enjoy Bear Valley for the coming Holidays. As always we’re about “Pure Mtn Fun” .

Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People! We are open 7 days a week!!!! Awesome conditions are in full effect with great coverage on the upper Mtn and Backside. Temps have also been good for snow making and the Frontside park is close to coming online. Today we’ll see mostly sunny skies with a high of 43F and a south wind up to 10mph. As Sunday evenings storm forms we will see wind pick up on Sunday as the surface gradient tightens and Sunday night we expect 5-9″ of new snow and another 2-4″ for Monday!!! It’s a great way to start full operations with a new coat of snow right before Christmas so don’t miss out and be sure to make plans to enjoy Bear Valley for the coming Holidays. As always we’re about “Pure Mtn Fun”.

Bear Valley, CA...Paul Says: 12/15/18 - The XC skiing is unbelievably good. We received the new USFS Permit and have lots more great trails now open! A Winter Storm Watch has been posted for Sunday at 4pm through Monday at 12 noon with 12"+ new snow expected! We are thrilled to announce that as of 12/1/18, Bear Valley Cross Country glides into a new ownership model. The Bear Valley Mountain Cooperative (Bear Valley Adventure Company, Inc.) is the new owner and Dianne and Paul look forward to contributing to a seamless transition. Seasonal Road and Trail Closures on Stanislaus National Forest Begin Dec. 16

Sonora, CA...Seasonal road and trail closures on the Stanislaus National Forest begin Dec. 16 and will remain in effect until April 14, 2019. The STF Motor Vehicle Use Map indicates which roads and trails will be closed and may be picked up at any ranger district office, or by visiting STF’s maps webpage at http://go.usa.gov/x8ysh. Please note if the MVUM identifies a road as closed, regardless whether a gate is closed and locked, it is closed for the season. Additionally, roads identified in the MVUM as being open may be hazardous due to local weather conditions, such as snow, or fallen trees. Drivers and hikers are urged to be prepared for hazards caused by fallen trees.

Former Mountain Ranch Realty Owner Bill Schmiett Has Passed Away at 66

Mountain Ranch, CA...The following was written by Doug Schmiett the brother of Bill Schmiett. Broge is dead. Long live Broge. It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my brother Bill Schmiett. He passed away this morning (Dec 11). His battle with liver disease is over. He died with his wife and best friend, Julie, by his side. He battled with resolve until the very end. Bill made 66 trips around the sun.
