FIRE NEWS...Vegetation Fire at Quill Road and Black Creek in Copperopolis..Near CONTAINMENT AT 3:21pm |

Copperopolis, CA...Multiple crews along with all Columbia aircraft are responding to a vegetation fire on Quill Road and Black Creek Copperopolis. Update 2:33pm, Fire is at 3-4 acres. Update 2:48pm, "Fire at 3-5 acres according to CAL Fire Command Center. Crews still working on it." Update 3:21pm, "Fire is being at held at 7 acres. Forward rate of spread has stopped. Near containment." According to Mike at CAL Fire Command Center. More to come if needed...

Leaving Arizona on July 27, 2010 an 18+ crew of firefighters from the Gila District Office in Sierra Vista Az, headed out to help fight the fire around the Lake Isabella area. From there, the crew headed north to assist the Forest Service Firefighters with local suppression projects, mainly fuel breaks within the forest. Working out of the Dorrington Station the crew will spend their remaining 5 days in California cutting lines, creating fire breaks, and helping where is most needed..... |

Vallecito, CA...The 4 acre fire that occurred on Red Hill Road yesterday was caused by equipment use without spark arrestor. There were no injuries. Following a Vote of No Confidence for Jenny Lind Fire District Chief Ochoa by the firefighters association on July 20, 2010, the resignation of Ochoa was received on Friday July23, 2010. That evenings meeting was subsequently canceled followed by a posted special meeting for July 30, 2010. Calaveras County, CA...A 5 engine strike team comprised of engines and crew from Altaville Melones, San Andreas, Central Fire, Murphy's and Ebbett's Pass is in route to Kern County. The West Fire in Kern County started in July 27th at 3:48pmj. It is now at 1,230 acres and 0% contained, The fire is located near the Old West Ranch Community southeast of Tehachapi. More information to follow.....
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger declared a state of emergency in Kern County as firefighters battled two fires that had burned more than 30 homes. Driven by winds, the larger fire burned 30 homes and was threatening 150 structures about 10 miles southeast of Tehachapi. As of Wednesday morning, the fire had burned more than 1,300 acres. [Updated at 7:36 a.m.: Officials said Wednesday morning that 250 fire personnel were on scene and were trying to get an accurate count of how many homes burned. "Our hearts and prayers go out to all Kern County residents and their families who have suffered at the hands of these devastating wildfires," the Kern County Fire Department said in a statement.] Firefighters were pouring in from around the state to help battle the blaze. A second blaze has burned at least six homes in northern Kern County. |

Murphys, CA....Arson was the cause of 1/8 of acre grass fire on July 20th at the 5800 block of Diltz Lane in Murphys. No injuries and dollar damage. CAL FIRE UNITS RESPONDING:

San Andreas, CA...CAL-FIRE called the Gold Strike Fire Contained about 1:30pm this afternoon. Good Work Crews. We could tell that they were fighting this one as aggressive as they possibly could as there were structures threatened and it had room to run. Alaina Henness-Dotson sent in the photos below that were shot in San Andreas looking towards the Gold Strike Fire...
