Cause of Mi-Wuk Village Mobile Home Fire Under Investigation

Mi-Wuk Village, CA....A mobile home fire occurred on February 25th at the 24000 Block of Hwy 108 in Mi-Wuk Village. The cause is under investigation. Damages sustained were $20,000 to mobile home and contents. There was a loud explosion heard just before the fore and the occupant was pulled out by bystanders. Full CAL Fire release is enclosed....

San Andreas, CA....The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) reminds foothill residents and property owners that wildfires occur year-round, even in the Mother Lode. Within hours after the sun comes out following a storm, the top layer of needles, leaves, or dead grass and weeds can become dry enough to burn. During the last week of January, the Tuolumne/Calaveras Unit responded to several escaped debris burns. These quickly threatened surrounding properties, and subjected the people who started the fires to fines, and the cost of damages and suppression. .........

Twain Harte Equipment Fire on Wednesday

Twain Harte, CA...On Tuesday, January 19th, 2011, CAL Fire reported an equipment fire at 18555 Cheryl Way in Twain Harte. A 2008 Caterpillar Skid Steer Loader was reported a total loss with an estimated dollar damage reported at $40,000. Cause of the fire was a hydraulic leak in the motor. Fire report enclosed.....

Jamestown, CA.....CAL Fire states a electric range was the cause of the apartment fire in the 20000 block of Jamestown Road in Jamestown. It was a total loss. Estimated damages are $250,000 to include structure and its contents. CAL Fire report enclosed...

New Melones Fishing Report for December 20th, 2010

Water Conditions: New Melones Lake is currently holding 1,395,633 acre-feet of water. The water level rose a whopping SIX feet this week (I don't think I have ever seen it come up so much in a week!), and is at 991 ft. above sea level and 97 ft. from full capacity. Water temperature is about 54-56 degrees at the surface. Water is heavily stained really muddy from rain run-off. Fishing conditions are very different than is usual for this time of year, between the heavy rains and the warm water temperatures.....

Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit Moves to Winter Preparedness On Monday

San Andreas, CA.. – On Monday, November 1, 2010, at 8AM, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) will complete the transition into winter preparedness in the Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit (TCU). This includes the counties of Calaveras, Tuolumne, and those eastern portions of San Joaquin and Stanislaus that are within the State Responsibility Area, as well as lands within the Direct Protection Area (DPA) of the Stanislaus National Forest...

Fire News...Vegetation Fire Reported on South Shore of Lake Camanche

Valley Springs, CA...Just when you thought the fire season was done there is a second vegetation fire this afternoon in the Valley Springs area. This one is near the mobile home park on the South Shore of Lake Camanche. First on scene are stating the fire is currently approximately 1/2 acre with heavy fuels in the area. More to follow...Update as of 5:04pm they have the forward progress of the fire stopped and the remaining units inbound have had their response level lowered...

Sonora, CA....CAL Fire states an electrical outlet failure caused a fire at the 18000 block of Drew Court in Sonora. The damages involved were to an exterior wall and deck. Damages are estimated at $6,500. Fire report enclosed...
