Murphys, CA...Christmas Day brings a 34-year Calaveras tradition, a free community dinner hosted by Murphys Friends. December 25 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Native Sons Hall on Main Street in Murphys, it will be turkey with all the trimmings, and gifts for the young people. This tradition started in 1983 at the Utica Hotel in Angels Camp by Bob Bach, Richard Wilmshurst, Alan Corell and Renee Weaver Saletta. It now has about 40 volunteers, some who have been doing this for years.

Bear Valley, CA...Bear Valley Mountain is now open for 7 Day a week operations. The snowmaking team has been hard at work building the snow base. In addition to the base and beginner areas, the snowmaking is focused on Mokelumne West and getting a run off the top of the mountain open as soon as possible. For this weekend, we are confirming the following services and activities at Bear Valley Mountain! Panda Carpet, Cub Carpet, Terrain Park boxes near Koala, Sledding, Rock Climbing Wall & Super Cub Chair opens today! – stay tuned!
