Copperopolis, CA....The town of Copperopolis held a Community Plan Meeting tonight at the Copperopolis Fire House to talk about the vision of Copperopolis. In attendance was Supervisor Russ Thomas, the Plan Community Update Committee Members, others who have contributed to the plan, CDA Director, Stephanie Moreno, Nathan Atherstone from the County Public Works Department and many local residents from Copperopolis. Caper, is a native of the Mediterranean area, as well as of the tropics. The plant grows about two feet tall and spreading. The vines can be 7 to 10 feet long, and have a very deep root system. The plant is very drought resistant, needs little cultural care, requires good drainage, and is practically free of diseases and insect pests. The fruit is green, elongated, 2-3 inches long, 1/2 - 3/4 inch in diameter, and contains 200-300 seeds. The leaves are oval in shape, leathery and shiny green. On Saturday, May 3, the new Habitat for Humanity Calaveras Warehouse, a discount building materials reuse outlet store, opened in San Andreas at 172 California St. The Warehouse will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and every subsequent first Saturday of the month. Shoppers will receive huge discounts on building materials, light fixtures, paint, appliances and furniture. Angels Camp, CA...Early Saturday Morning a scene out of the old west was played out just East of Angels Camp. A Cattle Drive started on Murphys Grade Road and then proceeded down Rolleri Bypass and ended at the Old Tryon Ranch off of Hwy 4. The Tryon Cattle Drive has become a local tradition every spring. Men and Women on horseback, and a large meandering herd of mooing cattle made their way from one spring pasture to another. Next year if this drive is to continue is will have to find another path.
