The Rusty Knife in Arnold Hosts Last Certified Farmers Market of the Season Today!

Arnold, CA....Please join us today for the final Farmer' Market of the season at The Rusty Knife. We have a limited selection of goods, but still worth the visit. We will resume our market in the spring of 2011 with a wide variety of fruits, produce and much much more. As always, thank you for your continued support. Come one, come all! The market will offer fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs, spices, olive oil, wine, crafts, honey, and more. The market will also offer vegetable transplants for all of those interested in growing their own vegetables. The owners at The Rusty Knife want to give back to the community, so they are offering their space to the vendors at no charge. Open Garden Event will be held Saturday, August 28, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, at the Calaveras Master Gardener Demonstration Garden, 891 Mountain Ranch Road, San Andreas. At 10:15am – Potato Harvest Demonstration and at 11:00am -- Playing in the Dirt: Soil Testing and Amendments plus Gardening on Slopes or Using Mounds. Succulent Garden (mounded) Potato Towers. Explore gardening techniques on slopes or using mounds with Master Gardeners Ed Miser and Marilyn DeRousse at 11:00am at OPEN GARDEN DAY on Saturday, August 28, at the Calaveras Master Gardener .....
The Third Annual Farms of Tuolumne County Farm and Ranch Tour will be held Saturday, August 7, 2010, from 10am - 4pm. This is a fun, educational and unique experience for the whole family. The Lead-Based Paint Renovation, Repair and Painting Program is a federal regulatory program affecting contractors, property managers, and others (including painters, plumbers, and electricians) who disturb painted surfaces. It applies to residential houses, apartments, and child-occupied facilities such as schools and day-care centers built before 1978. It includes pre-renovation education requirements as well as training, certification, and work practice requirements....
Bring your garden pests for identification to Open Garden Day on July 24, Saturday, from 10 am to 2 pm at the Calaveras County Master Gardeners’ Demonstration Garden, Government Center, 891 Mountain Ranch Road, San Andreas. The “Pests and Bugs” presentation begins at 10:30 am sharp. Master Gardeners will be on hand to offer free live help for home gardening questions, research your pesky pest issues, and assist in diagnosing plant problems. Valley Springs, CA...If you want to find the best locally grown produce around, this local farmer’s market is the one to hit. Open 8:30 am to 1pm every Saturday ‘til the rainy season comes (September 25th) this market is located in the Terrace Plaza parking lot. From zucchini to eggplant, from pluots to blueberries, it’s all here, and it’s all good. For those looking for more of an art fair outdoor market, well, this is it. The local quilting guild, Loose Threads Quilt Guild, was there raffling off a beautiful block snowman scene quilt. The proceeds of the raffle go to many different local charities and .....

Calaveras County, CA....Master Gardener's will host a Demo Garden Day, Saturday, June 26th at the Master Gardener's Demo Garden in San Andreas from10am- 2 PM. Master Gardener, Dianne Szymanski will speak on coexisting with deer in an unfenced garden. Come learn strategies on how to manage those pesky deer in your foothill garden. Gardening information is offered free of charge. In addition, the learning center will be staffed by Master Gardeners who will answer questions and distribute reference information.
