PG & E Employees and Retirees Raise Nearly $3.9 Million in Annual "Campaign for the Community" Fund Drive |

San Francisco, CA....Pacific Gas and Electric Company today announced its employees and retirees have pledged nearly $3.9 million – a 19 percent increase over the last year – to 3,868 schools and nonprofit organizations through the company’s 2008 Campaign for the Community.....

Murphys, CA...A new Book Discussion Group has started in Murphys every Saturday at 11am from March 8th thru May 17th. This will be a 10 week long event. Murphys, CA...Spring has sprung and the daffodil days are blooming. Ironstone Vineyards welcomes the Northern California Daffodil Society for their regional daffodil bloom competition and the Calaveras Garden Club. The Daffodil Society will host their exhibit at the winery from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m on Saturday and Sunday March 15th & 16th....

Frogtown, CA...On Saturday M arch 29th, HRC will present their 2nd Annual Baby Fair and Children's Day at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds. Go and join them for some "Under the Sea" themed fun for the entire family from 10am-2pm. Free parking and admission. There will be door prizes for kids and parents.

San Andreas, CA....Following up a call for artists in the Calaveras County Arts Council’s 11th annual ArtSpirit Show, 131 high school students from four high schools entered a total of 200 works in eleven categories. Cash awards of $10 for First Prize, $5 for Second Prize, and Third Place ribbons were given in each category. Additionally, a $20 Popular Choice Award will be presented after the April 17 closing of the exhibit, which is open to the public at 22 Main Street in San Andreas. Here are the results....

Arnold, CA...The Calaveras County Garden Club will hold its next general meeting on March 12, 2008 at Serafina's in Arnold. (The old "Weather Station" on the north side of Hwy 4.) The program will feature Jim Bergantz who is working to rally "green thumbs" to restore the operation of the Bret Harte High School Greenhouse. The objective of the Greenhouse Project is to modify the greenhouse so that it may be used as a teaching tool for Bret Harte students....
