It's getting greener out there, people!! I'm not talking about the need to mow your lawn, but the way the whole country seems to be pitching in and giving back to our planet. Whether you recycle your cans, bike to work, or have solar panels at your home...we are all doing our little bit to help. The people at Green Builder magazine took it a step further. They have built a series of houses throughout the United States that demonstrate how "green" our homes could be in the future. These homes are built using recycled products, natural materials found locally, and filled with energy efficient appliances. These Vision Houses are designed and built to be environmentally friendly, save energy and even give energy back to the community! .....

From dirt to dream space - that's just what we did for one customer this year. The following video slide show is worth thousands of words. See for yourself...Yes, it was as much work as it looks like! We started by working with a structural engineer, while Bill, our resident designer (and contractor) designed and created the plans for the new space. Then Bill and our crew excavated over 150 cubic yards of dirt, built retaining walls, reinforced footings, sheetrocked, did electrical, plumbing - we did it all! ...

Calaveras County Master Gardeners will conduct their monthly Open Garden Day on October 22nd. Located at the County Government Center, 891 Mountain Ranch Road, San Andreas, the garden will open at 10 am and stay open to the public until 2pm. The leaves have started to fall and cool weather is creeping in. Fall is the opportune time to test your soil and add amendments as needed. It is also the time to spread a layer of mulch or start that compost pile you have been thinking about. Whatever your endeavors, Master .....
Master Gardener Volunteer Training Program Begins in January

The University of California Cooperative Extension (UCCE) invites adults interested in helping others learn about gardening and landscaping to apply to train as a Master Gardener volunteer. UCCE Master Gardener volunteers learn University-based scientific information and then share that knowledge with the gardening community. Master Gardener volunteers are people of all ages and from all walks of life with a common desire to help others learn about gardening and landscaping.

Calaveras County CA....Home Depot of Manteca will host a free Kid’s Clinic at the Calaveras Home Show on October 8 & 9. Kids of all ages will be working on various projects like wood working kits and tile art and supervised by Home Depot personnel. About 10-15 minutes should be allowed for each kid’s project. Angels Camp, CA....Foothill Village Senior Community's annual yard sale is just around the corner! Join us Saturday, September 3rd from 8 am- 4pm! 1400 Foothill Village Dr. Angels Camp (the big building on the hill in stelte park). We are preparing all the fine things we have for sale and are looking forward to seeing you shop for new treasures! Every year we pull out the items collected in storage (Mostly Furniture!) as well as the donations from residents and employees and sell everything for BARGAIN PRICES! Everything from kitchen stuff to clothes, decorations and knick knacks, amongst the furniture and other fantastic stuff! All proceeds benefit our Employee Appreciation Fund (Tips!) and left over yard sale items are donated to Hospice Thrift Store! Come check it out- you never know what you may find!!
