| Angels Camp, CA....As the popularity of farmers markets goes to show, the public’s interest in where its food comes from is at an all time high. Documentary filmmaker Deborah Koons Garcia has played a significant role in the “know your farmer, know your food” movement. Her award-winning 2004 film The Future of Food has done an enormous amount to raise people’s awareness of how our food system has been changed by the introduction of genetically engineered foods also known as genetically modified organisms or GMOs. The film explains both the science and politics behind the introduction of GMOs and explores the reasons why the public should be concerned about them.... |

Angels Camp, CA..On January 7th a A San Andreas man was traveling northbound on Hwy 49 at an unknown speed. Ahead of him a vehicle was stopped to turn left at Deer Creek Road to visit the Veterinarian's office. There was also another vehicle slowing for the vehicle ahead...

Good Morning All..I wanted to send out a reminder for Tuesday, January 10th the golf shop, range, restaurant, and course will be closed. We will be cleaning carpets in the entire building, which we need to stay off of them for the day. The maintenance crew will be spraying all the fairways with an iron application so please be aware of the crew. We will also be watering the course heavily in the morning once the temperature warms up so the ground will be wet and could be a little sloppy out there.....

Murphys, CA...This time of year, I’m getting a lot of wishes thrown in my direction for a “better 2012.” While obviously the sentiment is sweet, I can’t help but hear the implication that my 2011 was perhaps sub-par. I will admit that it was eventful. Okay, so I was 36 years old and had a stroke in my cerebellum this year. But it turned out to be a huge blessing: it led to my cancer diagnosis....

Angels Camp, CA...On December 30, 2011, Angels Camp Police Officers arrested James Matthew Whorton, 27 years of age, of Stockton, for being a convicted felon in possession of a loaded firearm and driving under the influence of a controlled substance. Whorton was contacted during a traffic enforcement stop on SR 4 just west of SR 49...
