Angels Camp, CA...New Melones Fishing Report. Water Conditions: New Melones Lake is currently holding 1,085,257 acre-feet of water. The lake level dropped two feet this week, and is currently at 954 ft. above sea level and 132 ft. from full. The water temperature is cooling a bit but still a fairly warm 76-81 degrees. The lake is stained with mud lines forming near the shore in the afternoon....

Angels Camp, CA...September is S-A-L-E month at Country Cloth! Saturday Sidewalk Sales every Saturday in September. Books, patterns, embroidery designs, notions, etc. for $1. Also booths selling items made by customers AND some of our Camp Sew Fun graduates will have their own booths selling their own creations. We also have USED Sewing Machines, Sergers & Embroidery Machines on sale in September. Several makes & models, all machines sold AS IS. Machine prices starting at $35. See you in September!

San Andreas, CA...Following are just two of the great dogs available at the shelter. Sasha is an Akita who is about 3 years old. She has a tri-color coat with a magnificent tail that curls around on itself. She will need to be spayed before going to her new home. Dawn is a lab mix about 2 years old. Dawn is looking for an active family or person who has time for training and activities that will include her. Dawn will need to be spayed before going home with you.

Frogtown Cross Country More than just a Fairgrounds! |

Frogtown, CA...Every fall the Calaveras County Fairgrounds becomes a cross country track for thousands of Northern California student athletes. The fairgrounds has 71 acres of land and along with the neighboring ranch becomes one of the most difficulty cross country courses in the State. Four of the meets are hosted by Bret Harte High School and Manteca High also holds a meet at the facility. Once a year local junior high students also try the course. This year's meets are September 18 and 21, October 30, November 2 and 3..

Douglas Flat, CA...Roy B. Walden was born November 15, 1928 in South Carolina. He was a resident of Douglas Flat for the past 30 years. Roy was the Owner of Calaveras Springs Bottled Water Company in Douglas Flat, CA. He served Calaveras and Santa Clara Counties for the past 30 years delivering mountain spring water to homes and businesses. Prior to Moving to Douglas flat and starting the water business he worked for Fairchild refrigeration and air conditioning and also for Intel Corporation. Roy also taught Refrigeration and Air Conditioning at San Jose City College. One of his favorite hobbies was photography...

Angel Camp, CA...The Chicken Barn is now open and busy in the old KFC location at Hwy 49 and Murphys Grade Road. When we stopped by this evening and the parking lot was full and lots of smiling faces were going in and out of the front doors. The building and the grounds look wonderful after the remodel and facelift. The following is what we published earlier about this project and the plans that have now been completed...

Stockton, CA...On Sunday August 25, 2013 three Calaveras County Girls brought home top Honors in the California State Horsemen’s Association Region 4 Royalty Contests. Morgan Middleton of Hathaway Pines won the Little Miss CSHA competition for Region 4. Sarah Parker of Burson won the Junior Miss CSHA competition for Region 4, and McKensey Middleton of Hathaway Pines won the Miss CSHA competition for Region 4...

The Drive for Mother Lode League Football Supremacy Is Underway for 2013. |

Angels Camp, CA...It's hard to believe but the 2013 Mother Lode League Football Season is underway. Non-League play started for most teams this last weekend with Linden, Amador, starting off with wins and Argonaut and Bret Harte started week one dropping games in varsity games. Local Photog extraordinaire captured the competitive fire of the Frosh Frogs on Thursday Night as they battled Ripon. It was a good hard fought game but BH lost 20-14 on a Ripon TD drive in the last two minutes.
