Bear Valley, CA...The next storm system is upon us now. It looks like it will be bringing a White Christmas all the way to Christmas. Then you can unpack all your snow toys and go play. On a serious note. Please be prepared for at least a couple of days if your car gets stuck or stranded. The forecast through Christmas. Today... Late Afternoon Rain and snow showers. Snow level 4500 feet. Steady temperature around 37. Southeast wind around 13 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Little or no snow accumulation expected. Tonight Rain and snow. Snow level 4400 feet. Steady temperature around 36. Southeast wind 11 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Little or no snow accumulation expected. Saturday Rain showers before 5pm, then rain and snow showers. Some thunder is also possible. Snow level 4700 feet. Temperature falling to around 31 by noon. South southeast wind 14 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Little or no snow accumulation expected...

Angels Camp & Murphys, CA...What are You Making for Christmas Eve? How about Roasted Dungeness Crab in Garlic Sauce? Ingredients, 2 whole crabs (2 plus pounds each), Crab butter, Crab innards (optional), 1/2 cup white wine, 2 tablespoons olive oil, 1 chopped medium shallot, 1/2 sprig rosemary (chopped), 1 sprig thyme, leaves chopped, 2 tablespoons Szechwan peppercorns, 1/2 cup canola oil, 1 tablespoon garlic salt, 8 to 10 garlic cloves, roasted and pureed, Chopped parsley, for garnish. Directions...Crabs: Clean the crabs Crab innards: In a blender add the innards with 1/4 cup of white wine, blend on pulse, strain, and save. In a pot on medium heat add olive oil, shallots, rosemary, thyme, and peppercorns. Cook until light brown, about 5 minutes. Deglaze with 1/4 to 1/2 cup of wine. Add the blended crab innards, the canola oil, and the garlic salt. Simmer for 10 minutes. Skim the top, remove from the heat and cool for a few minutes. Strain through a sieve or cheesecloth. Whisk in the garlic puree and let rest. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F. Place the 2 crabs in a large oven-proof skillet, ladle the crab butter over them, (be generous) and bake for 15 to 20 minutes. Set the crabs on your serving dish, sprinkle with garlic salt, put the empty head shells back on (you can brush the shell with olive oil to shine) sprinkle. Sprinkle with chopped parsley

Angels Camp, CA...Calaveras Arts Council opens Ovations 2013 Performing Arts Series with the Brubeck Jazz Institute Quintet (BIJZ) at Dr. Elliott Smart Performing Arts Center located at Bret Harte High School, 323 Highway 49, in Angels Camp. Five impressively talented young musicians make up the current BIJQ and will perform on Sunday January 13 at 3:00pm. Adult tickets are $25 and Youth 18 years and younger at $10.00. This year the Calaveras Community Foundation is underwriting a limited number of youth tickets to help expose youth to a variety of music and dance performances. There are only 150 tickets available for the entire season so order soon...
