Calaveras County Office Of Education to Meet on Monday at 4:30pm

Angels Camp, CA...The Calaveras County Board of Education will meet on Monday February 25th at 4:30pm. They will be discussing the Mountain Oaks Project Update. There will be also be a presentation of Adult Education Diploma's. The Board will be reviewing costs incurred and approval of the cost analysis of the salary settlement for the Calaveras County Office of Education Independent Study Teachers for 2007/08. March will be declared "Arts Education Month." The full agenda is enclosed for your viewing pleasure....

Changes ahead for the Mark Twain Recreation Area Lake Access at New Melones Lake

Sonora, CA...The Bureau of Reclamation announces that New Melones Lake will change the public use of the Mark Twain Recreation Area Lake Access, located near the Park Administration Office and Visitor Center, beginning Tuesday, April 1, 2008. The public use will change from launching trailered boats of any size to launching small boats by hand only....

Calaveras & Western Alpine Counties, CA...The great weather and 3 Day weekend brought the visitors to our area in droves. From the almost 5,000 skiers on the hill at BVMR, to the packed sledding hills and cross country trails at Bear Valley Cross Country and the hundreds of snowmobiles zipping about. The the outdoor recreation venues of the Ebbetts Pass Corridor were definitely firing on all cylinders last weekend. It was more than just snow play that drew them. Murphys and the surrounding wine region was teeming with activity as well. We spoke with several wineries who said that it was the busiest President's Day Weekend they had ever had....

Bret Harte girls season ends at Loretto High last night~By Steve Orr

The Bret Harte girls varsity basketball team ended their season with a close loss in Sacramento last night. At the end of the first quarter, the Bullfrogs held a 17-13 lead. But the Loretto Lions got on a roll in the second quarter to lead 32-22 at the half. The Bullfrogs played tough and kept chipping away at the lead, to get as close as 46-43 with only 2 minutes to play in the game. But the Lions...
